• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

PNW Husky event. Bend, OR. Oct. 15-16, 2010

I laid Shane's 144 down pretty good the other weekend on a sweet GP downhill since he opts to not run side knobs nor tell me about it, but this was a real good one in a really rocky stretch. I would have walked (or at least only limped) away had it not been a rock garden.

Oh well. It happens!

Sorry to derail my own thread, but gotta show the obligatory pics.
Luckily for my bike my leg took the brunt of the impact for it

I was just looking back at the first post and realized y'all's definition of weekend is a little different, I'll be rolling in late on Friday, and staying past Sunday.

That's just nasty dude!
Luckily mine wasn't nearly that severe and I was able to ride out.

Got a big ol' boot today
No surgery and no waiting 6 weeks to get plaster off :applause:

Should be good for China Hat

Yeah... Um... I got a really bad, reoccurring hangnail, so I'm a maybe.

Its all good. Only a few of us are going over early. I think the majority are aiming for the regular Sat-Sun weekend.

 I prefer Thurs-Tues weekends, myself :) I asked for Fri and Mon off so we'll see how it goes.

I also rode out, but someone else had to start the bike, and i stood on one foot and stayed in one gear.

Yes, that was an early error apparently based on the lack of physical calendars in sight of the average Cafe Husky denizen ....

It got corrected someplace in the first page or two.... but hey, Th/Fri or Sat/Sun or Th/Monday with golf and shopping in between ... whatever works

Am hopeful to be able to attend at least the Saturday/Sunday fun. Freaking employer keeps dropping shit in my lap with little notice. :(

I thought you were on a plane? :excuseme:

I was on a layover in Dulles after a 5 hour Flt. There is 3g on the East coast too ;) If you forget to adjust the timezone in user cp, it would appear I was either not on the plane you refer to or breaking FAA regs, which I was not. Glad we got that out of the way:banghead:

Bill Sells ATV Permits

I checked with Bill about Oregon ATV permits. He can sell you one at the event , or better yet you can call him ahead of time and he can set you up ahead of time. You will need your bike VIN handy.

http://billshusky.com/

Ask for Bill and tell him you need an ATV permit for the Cafe Husky China Hat ride. Open Monday-Saturday.

I am a "hate to pay taxes and fees" kind of guy. But when I see all the work that goes into the riding areas in OR, especially how nice they keep CH, I am actually glad to be able to help fund it by buying the tags. I never thought I'd say that about paying essentially a tax, but I see a lot to show for it.

I just got back from three days there and it was raining off and on, so the traction was super good. The soil there is actually pumice, so it drains well, but can get pretty loose. A little water really binds it together.

I've been saving a fortune on tires since I decided to stop replacing them just because a few/all of the knobs fell off.
