• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Yeah, It rained that morning and the stretch of deep sand on the WRT was sand w/ 6" of water/mud on top resulting in a step-off at one point...:)

I always assume people have their bikes set up for sand when I see them riding on it. Guess not. You are clearly very good, I would make about six feet of forward progress in that before I crashed.
 
Wow! Cool shot. I have never seen a photo of the bike with the suspension under full compression. I would hope I could make it more than 6 feet, but I fear not.
 
What has helped me in sand more than anything else is practice, practice, practice!

It's still unnerving for me, but not so bad once you learn to trust the bike and just let it wallow around under you.
 
Practice and speed! You need speed! Forward motion will help keep it steady and the more forward motion the better.
 
That was the first time I have had this bike off-road.
I have been running the 17" wheels on it, and it has been a great mountain-roads blaster, but it surprised me how capable it is in the soft sand.

That is a great pic. You should submit it to advrider...I'm sure they'd add it to the photo line up of their main/home page.
 
hi there did a 600k ride yesterday in northern n.s.w this bike ticks all the boxes & its not the tenere!only mod to do is the power up now001.JPG
