• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Here's a pick of me getting stopped by a cop and then being told I was being "cruel" to my dog.

Apparently, strapping her to the bike so she'll be dragged or squashed is much safer when I go riding 25 MPH along the beach.

Nice:thumbsup: I like her red doggles!

Hello and my new-to-me 610

Thought I would introduce myself and my 610.

This is from the first ride on it. The ice was a bit slick.

Thanks. I do think it is in great shape. There are of course some glitches that I am working out but nothing major yet.

Looking for a stock seat, believe it or not, amongst other things, if anyone has one.

By the way, I really like the look of the doggy panniers on your bike, do you mind telling me the brand?

Sure! They're made by Mountainsmith. I have the medium size and the large...

The work great. I had to sew some buttonholes in the pad at the top, then I threaded some nylon webbing through them and and cinched them down on the seat. I have photos of that somewhere if you're interested.

I knew that logo on the side of the bags looks familiar. Thanks for the info. I've been trying to rig up my Ortliebs but not having much luck, and was thinking yours looked great and low down for weight.

I'm moving up to Seattle in a few weeks, and I have a seat I'll be bringing with me. If you haven;t found another PM me around the 1st and we'll figure something out. I'll be in Federal Way.

Awesome, thanks so much. I will shoot you a PM. Federal Way is maybe 15 minutes from my doorstep so lets go riding too. I'd be more than happy to show you the neighborhood up here on both sides of the water.

Thanks again for the offer and i just made a note in my email to PM you.

Finally, after a month of waiting on the shipping company to deliver it:confused:, here's my new-to-me 06.

Forecast is calling for 64*F here tomorrow, so I'm taking her for a spin over into Bama with a buddy on a KLR and one on a 690E.

congrats, Tagalong.

Having had mine for a few weeks now, I'm pretty sure you are gonna like it.

have a great ride tomorrow.

This bike photographs very well, in person it has scratches and scuffs all over it. Must be the colors that hide it well.

Put in a little over 200 miles Sunday. Wow, this thing is awesome. I love the wide ratio transmission, and being able to loft the front tire without having to clutch it :notworthy:.

Nice pics Stu. No need for a kickstand out in the dunes.
I see you've got a MotoZ on the rear. Desert HT ? I really like the
MZ's. I've been running the Tracula's all winter and it's been really good
for wet, muddy terrain. I'll probably be ordering another Desert HT for
the summer months. I bet you see a lot of bikes with MZ's down under
being that they're an Australian company.

Georgetown trails. Great place to ride and one of the only places in the
Sierra's that you can ride during closure season, weather permitting,
of course.

I recently moved from LA to Seattle. I stopped in Pismo beach cuz I'd never been on a dune and didn't know when I might get another chance.
