• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Oops... the short cut I decided to try today was a bit more challenging than expected! Especially my nonexistent n00b skillz.
Mud covered with soft snow. Especially getting the bike uphill was interesting. There were fresh moose tracks on the same trail all the way. Moose hunting stand in the first pic, in case you're wondering.
Nearly 500km / 300 miles on the odo of my first dual sport now.

Nice pics Some Finn. You made a wise choice for your first D/S bike by the looks of
the landscape. I'm of Finnish decent myself. Grandparents moved here from Finland.
My Grandmother just celebrated her 100th birthday on April 5th.

Yes they are. Jamin_mathis made me look pretty good didn't he!
I damned near dumped it in one of them but managed not to crash right in front of him at ten frames a second:lol:

Just picked up a new '09 610 last Saturday. So far it has been a real fun bike even while breaking it in for it's first service at 600 miles. Still bone stock with an Uptite skiplate on the way, and some other tidbits George talked me into:D Need to pick up something other then my iPhone or my D300 for taking shots out in the wilds.

Take er nice and easy breaking in. After you get it dialed in a bit and setup how you like it, uncork it. Hehehe it's cute that you think it's fun now... Just you wait

Hey !
Don’t you talk about momma like that !!!

Nice pics btw

Momma ? I think you mean Papa. Very nice pics and scenery.
I love to see those type of pics. The big ol' 610 on technical singletrack
trails or rippin' through the snow in the forest or the Aussie dunes. The very first post on this thread the guy's riding a trail in Baja that's like two feet wide. I've heard so many people say that it's too big and heavy for serious offroad riding and I'll even admit that I've made that statement myself yet that's all I ever use it for and it works. Love my 610. BTW Where's PDX ?

Welcome to the fold
Good pics, it looks like you’re poised to take full advantage of it so hope you’ll have a blast on that black beast

In the second pic it seems like your mirrors are either flipped or maybe you have two lefties ? Must be the camera angle :excuseme:

GT and beyond over the weekend.

Sharp eyes there, Muddy. Two lefties indeed, soon to be corrected...

Not at all
I had to be told by one of the guys here (thanks L D  ) that my mirrors where flippedy flopped so naturally I gravitate to things like that
Left to my own I would still be riding with them wrong way, with this music in my head :busted:
(Yeah, I’m such an idiot sometimes…:o )
