  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc One year anniversary for the 165!

I'm thinking of a 165 kit, my question would be if the bottom end and clutch are designed for the increase in cylinder size and Hp. Has anyone had problems with the crank's or bearings?

Pat,

Where are you in the state? Maybe we can meet up and you can ride mine, everyone else has! As far as bottom end and clutch wear. I have been using the same plates, basket, and auto clutch in my 09 now with absolutely no sign of wear. Over a year of 165 and no issues. When I pulled it down and split the cases to swap the WR tranny into my '12 all bearings and crank were in perfect condition. I replaced the mains simply because I was in there. I had a rod kit in hand but couldn't find any reason to use it. This is after over 3 years of abuse. The 167 kit from Uptite uses a much heavier piston kit and that was in the motor for almost a year before I installed the new 165 kit last November. Pretty fair testament to the durability of the Husky tiddler motor.

Thanks Wally for the reply;
I'll take you up on the offer this spring, i'm going to downsize cc's. I am just east of you. Thanks Again.

wally, how do I contact you for info about the 165 kit? i'm hoping to have a 2009 wr125 soon and I've been reading about the 165 and it sounds awesome. I can't find a pm button anywhere?

Wally, I am asking the question here because I could not find the pm either. Could you make a yz-125 run similar to WB 165? If you could what would it cost and what would be involved?
Thanks
Shannon
