• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

NW Gathering Round 3 - November 7-11 2012

Thinking about heading out for this -- I've done China Hat before, but am curious what the temps will be like in November. Anyone have any ideas? Just trying to decide if tent camping is a viable option....

So in Oregon a plate doesn't get you on the trails?

In California a plate allows you to ride anywhere... All my bikes are plated, I don't do stickers. I don't trust California politicians not to screw me on access by changing the sticker rules.

Nope, but our "stickers" are $10, and good for 2 years..... Thats hard to pass up when a ticket is WAY more than that... They are avail. a lot of places.. Check out the local (Bend) bike shop, I'm sure they can hook you up.

Bill had some tags with him last year. Chad had to get one "quick like" from him for Lindsay"s bike, when the Sheriff showed up and started his rounds.

Plate trumps sticker in CA. Of course, you have to keep the insurance current and you can't pull the plate or blinkers for trail use without risking getting busted for it.

Since a CA plate applies for off road use, shouldn't reciprocity cover that? (yeah, I'm cheap. But it's mostly a matter of principle)

The money from the stickers stays in the OHV system. When you see the job they do grooming the trails, I don't think you will feel like you've been ripped off. Buy ing the OHV sticker is the only tax I don't feel ripped off paying.
But yeah, reciprocy might apply...

I was talking to Bill at BMP last weekend and we have decided to go for NW Gathering #3 at China Hat again. Our plan is to give early November, 11/1-4/2012 a try, there might be a little moisture to hold down the dust by then....
Is Nov 1-4 the (semi) official dates? If so, I could edit the title to reflect that.

We are trying to firm up a date ASAP,we are working on 2013 bike delivery dates to make sure we have some new Redheads to ride,we do have the 2013 TC250s in already. And looks like were building our first 2013 WB165 as we now have the parts.

So they got there in one piece? Pipes should be on their way to me this week and will get it turned around to you asap.

I've thought about this a lot, I really need to be at this event for a few reasons. The proposed dates work for me, it would be great not to get too far into November because of the changing weather. Like a few others, I use a tent.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD MAKE IT HOPING TO 2013 assorted bikes to ride if they come in.
Sounds great! :)
