  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Next project - 2002 CR250

all the rear rotors rattle as they are floating units. If it is an nice as it looks I would offer him $1250 but would pay more. $1400 really is not bad. These are very good bikes with extremely good motors. Hope to get another ride on mine Sunday.

Did some work to it, looking better and a bunch of things fixed. Crap late night pix...

Was just noticing. 18" rear or just a big tire? Sweet!

Bikes are basically the same, like posted above, no bikes in 03 to the states. The lighter colored engine covers, smaller diameter front axle indicate 2000 or 2001 model but I think those graphics and seat are 2000.

I had a 2000 also. Changed the frame in 2001, head tube was moved up on frame, angle was the same. Front end stuck better, was a big improvement for me but the 2000 still handled well, just got busy on jump faces when REALLY pushing (and I pushed much harder then!). And could feel small front axle under heavy braking/chop. Still a good bike but for the way I'd use it I'd wait for a 2001-2002.

Kelly if you could please whip up some numberplates that read "36" we'll be all set!:D

I got cold feet this morning and decided to pass on this one. I may regret it but it is an 8 hour drive each way and the fuel cost plus hotel made this a not so good deal. I will keep looking.

Asking 1400 but it needs a few minor items, clutch lever and something with a rattling rear brake rotor?? Not sure on that just going by what the seller sent me in a video of the bike running. Seems like a solid bike and some wiggle room on the asking price too.

Don't be afraid of the rear brake rotor. My 2014 WR300 with 15 hours on it has already developed the rattle. It's "floating" so it doesn't sit completely flush with hub by design. Ask seller to meet half way or knock price down to $1,300. What else can you buy for $1,300 that isn't a POS? Very little typically.

Seller doesn't want to meet me and he is firm on the price. It has a hole in the right side case cover that has a bunch of JB weld filling it. Guy said he never changed fluids in the 3 years he's had it. I know how I am and this bike would turn into 2K in parts and I would never see it back. I can't control my wrenching that is the real problem...LOL I woke up this morning and it just didn't feel right. Can't explain it.:excuseme:

While working on the bike I have noticed a few unusual things. First it has a reed spacer block (usually for lot end boost i think) and a V-Force 3 reed block which I dont think came on these or was even available in 02.

Also notice someone welded a frame cross bar right above the rear of the carb where the airbox boot meets it. Very odd. Not even sure why you would gusset it there. need to pull the tank and see if any other frame mods were done. Stating to wonder the history of this bike. Was bought at L&D in Astoria Oregon. Never titled, I have the MSO.
My FBF 02 CR 250 has that frame mod. Also has mounts for skid plate, gusset along frame between motor mounts and beefed up footpeg mounts. V force 3 was added later. However when I see a bike all black I assume it was stolen.

This has a bolt on skid plate. I know the v-force 3 is not stock nor is the spacer plate to make it work. Bike came with the MSO (so not stolen), it came from L&D at the coast 40 miles from me so is a local bike. Wonder why it have FBF type add ons. Pretty sure the knucklehead i got it from did the bed liner on the plastic as first ride and it was rubbed off in many places. It had never been rode since the pain job. Weird, probably figured it would not sell in yellow. He was not a DB rider, was a rock crawler type. Real nice guy though. Dont care, got me a 02 CR250 and it rips. Going to sort the suspension some and enjoy.
