    WR = 2st Enduro & CR = 2st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Next project - 2002 CR250

I drove 8 hours, bought my WR, turned around and drove 8 hours back in one day. There was an insane wind and rain storm going on for half of the drive.

I should add, with a wife, two teenage daughters, a pug that is dumb as a rock, another dog, and a horse at home, a 20 hour day by myself to go pick up a motorcycle was like a vacation for me. I loved every minute of it! F250 rolling, tunes cranking.

Like a boss.

Who's driven the longest to get their bike stories, best thread jack ever! Ha ha...

Rode the CR250 again yesterday. Forks seemed stiff and harsh. Let what seemed like 30 PSI out, much better :D but still just average. Motor continues to impress. Lugs and pulls of the bottom like a 300. Linear power everywhere. Handling is a little twitchy. Bars need raised a good bit for me. Will keep massaging. Fun bike. Still dont think it is going to displace my much loved 165 any time soon.

Lol we have totally hijacked Kelly's thread!
I think I have a good one.. I drove from PA to SC to pick up an Aprilia Mille, trailered it to my brother's house in Gulfport, MS, rode with him for a week, then trailered it home to PA.

Stole the seat and tank off my 165 for yesterdays ride. Needs geared up some, will pull taller gearing EZ.

If you are staying in the woods, about 13/48 with a 10 or 12oz FWW is really good.

If you want to ride on the pipe all the time like a 22yo Pro, then 13/50 with not weight.

I like both, but this old man can't do the latter all day long, anymore. It's good for fast 1 hour GP or MX, but just too much for a long race. Either way, you have some killer top end power when you want, but you can lug the 13/48 with FWW like a good enduro bike and still fly.

The motor needs nothing but a Lectron which is going to happen for better MPG and crisper throttle response. It does not need a FWW for me, is perfect. Lugs like a 300 and impossible to stall. just need to gear it up and sort the suspension some. Shes kinda ugly but a great woods bike and likes to climb big hills.

Kinda joking. Kinda. In my 165 i am running ATF and it works fantastic. Old school guys used to do it and I tried it in my dampers and found it to be uber slick. So tried it in my revavled 165 forks and love it plus it is cheap. I would think if you dont revalve it might be to stiff. Does not hurt anything so you could try it if you wanted. Not a recommendation but works well for me. It is a very good hydraulic fluid with most the right properties.

I am thinking of biting the bullet and just selling my keihihn on ebay to afford going with lectron , mainly for gas mileage. I seem to get about 22 mph now in the tight stuff and around 30 when duel sporting it. What I should I expect afterwards with the lectron?
