  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hello All,

Just picked up a 2013 TE511. After my first ride my initial thoughts are the bike seems really planted with instant hook up. Close ratio tranny geared too low for my taste so I will experiment with gearing. Seems the corked power is less than my YZ426 has but I have FMF, PCV, and auto tune on order and I really haven't opened it up since I'm still breaking in.
I have a baja trip with Tim Morton planned for the 12th so I'm looking forward to what the bikes desert capabilities are. I ordered the IMS/ SC package as well for the trip. Overall I'm very pleased with the platform and love the CTS design. Hoping after I un-cork this BISH I will pull away form my buddys 525 XCW!

Hmmm, new husky, a ride with a Master in Baja, . . . . been there, done that and can tell you it might be the best ride of your life! it was for me . . . 4 Xs. Have fun! Hope you get your tank in time for it!

Got my pcv, auto tuner, bib moose, Dunlop 606s, 7602 racing rad guards/ braces/ disc guards, case guard but I'm still waiting on my power core slip on and ims tank. Should get the muffler this week but I have no response on the esd for the tank/sc combo. I will be bummed if I don't get this in time cuz my 200 mile road trip felt like I was riding on a brick after a few miles! Any advice on opening up the air box? I was planning on drilling out some 1" holes with a hole saw with a screen mesh glued on to catch large particles. Oh yeah zip Ty won't have my oil catch can ready by the time I leave for Baja either.

I've heard of people using the air Box for the TC model. I can't remember much about it. You may have to do a search on it

Order a 2012 TC449 air box lid.

Um yea... No way you are putting that on a dirt bike without a front end suspension change.

That street setup may be the perfect application if riding any distance, but that looks like a lot of front end weight if off-road and actually filled.

Yeah as for getting the ims set up so quick Steve at ims was gracious enough to let me do a pick up at the shop pretty much fresh out of the mold. The latest run is probably shipping out all the orders right now. Those guys are pretty cool so support ims and buy their tanks. I haven't run the bike off road yet but I did a road test with a full tank yesterday. I did notice a little more sluggishness leaning and transitioning but really not too bad. The best thing is you can run fuel only in the stock tanks and not take the external off but it's there if you need it and want to have instant range. Did it feel like I had a basketball between my legs? Lol maybe but I tell you what the seat concepts is really nice. I will never put the stock pos back on ever. As for the suspension set up, yeah obviously adding 24 lbs up high and forward will need to make a spring rate change/ valving. I was planning on that anyways as I am a 210 lb rider and the stock set up felt super soft to me. I have had pretty good luck with race tech springs so I will look into their offerings. Anyone else out there have any suggestions for good suspension set ups?
