    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Any word yet, my dealer does not know, he even said they may be less than their KTM brothers/cousins????? My price and brand research has begun and it will be a 300cc 2 stroke.

I like the new tech 4 strokes and can ride them well...Im just sick and tired of the costs of these things. Even a simple exhaust pipe is 3x to 4x the price of a 2T pipe.
I just want to mix good race fuel with good moto oil, change my gearbox oil from time to time, swap airfilters and ride the crap out of my bike at least 1x per week over gnarley stuff and all other trails and courses, without thinking if it blows up it will slaughter my wallet. Im after more miles per smile. And pure simplicity with light weight. My rant for the day. I am going back to 2T since my last KTM250EXC was sold in 2004, replaced by a TC450 Husky Ive been on 4T. If I get a 2014 that will be a 10 year cycle to return to 2T.
 
Looks like Huskys are more expensive than KTM's, in other markets.... Irish rider Mxdave on KTM Talk, reports that a Husky TE250, is $800 more than a KTM 250EXC (US, XCW). He went Beta, but also got a dealer support ride in his series.

US Market is always different. First year KTM brought Husaberg 2T bikes to the US, they had more content than a KTM XC-W. Husaberg had better forks, billet triple clamps, skid plate, map switch, better DID wheels, at a lower price than the KTM. The next year, they were priced slightly more than a KTM.

I'm betting KTM will price Huskys a little lower than KTM's in the US Market, to bump start sales of the new bikes.

They are ALL fantastic bikes. All have more ability than we do and are freaking amazing. Its kinda stupid to argue about it :D

I know this is silly but my biggest fear is that husky becomes totally main stream and the start lines are half KTM half Husky and nothing else. I like something different that's all.
 
No argument from me! Different is good and all bikes are good! Mainstream... I can remember, when Huskys filled a race, like KTM's do today. We survived it!

How come the Gas Gas drum, is so quiet these days?

I know I'll get dragged to the pillar for this.... I'm a Husky guy, plain and simple. I don't ride Huskys to be different, I ride them because they're Huskys. I've listened to "Purists" argue for years, about what is really a Husky. I don't care if it was made by.... Husqvarna AB, Electrolux, Cagiva, MV Agusta, BMW or KTM... I'm going to ride one!

Seems to me like the bikes got redesigned and look cool but are lacking and weight to much for some.

I ride huskys because of how they handle and cuz I think they look cool. KTM and now huskys handle different. They are no longer the "husky" I was after. Still fantastic bikes, good looking too, just dont handle like a newer CR125 or X-light. I ride primarily tight woods so these things are top of the "important to me" list. Rumors are the Sherco handles a lot like the last italian huskys.
 
I knew it Robert rides my husky 300 and his life has changed PLUS he came rode with the big dogs and kicked quite a few of there butts in there own back yard Once again my friend nice ride

By the way Mr Robert that bike you rode was a 2010 ex zip ty racing bike with a bone stock motor and since 2010 has only had 1 piston 1 clutch and the lower end has not been opened. Kind of hard to want a 4 stroke after that ride
Keep it simple

BUT I am so looking forward to a test ride on a new Zip Ty Racing 2 stroke husky once they get there and Ty works his knowage of bike set up on one I will stay with Husky might just get a new one if it works as good as my well dialed in Wr 300
 
I think it boils down to the old saying...

If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it. Something had to replace the berg prices, and Heeeerrrreees your Husky.
 
Certainly repair costs are less with the 2t, but the main thing has to be performance. Now I know Taddy, Brownie and so on are riding the 350 4t, but I think they're just towing the company line. From the type of riding you seem to like doing the tw0-stroke still seems the over-whelming choice of the top riders. And the Husky/KTM's are well proven. The other brands still have to prove themselves-the question remains: Do you want to lead, or follow....?
 
Haha, I knew Rob would want a 2t again after riding your race bike. We'll see after he test rides a Husky 350.
You can talk Beta all you like, it's a ktm with an Italian head. Not saying it's a bad thing, it's a good standard bike, but generations behind the leaders in technology. Sherco is interesting, but I'm sticking with Husky and state of the art.

Before long I think Beta will go mainstream. On a side note, 2 strokes really sound like an awesome idea. I've been thinking of them for awhile now just because of cost and I wouldn't have to live in fear of when it blows lol. The problem is even seeing a picture of a 449 reminds me of how much I love it :). The Beta's with bigger 2 strokes is at the top of the list.
 
I for one am a tech head to some degree, however the formula Beta has mastered is the KISS theory of engineering, kinda like WW2 large production aircraft, fast from the drawing to service. Use existing proven tech wrapped in a well founded/tested chassis with all the ancilliary parts sourced from proven companies with proven track records on the trail and race courses of the world. I like the very business savvy Beta formula and after having ridden 2 different 300RRs I am a big fan of the new top Italian brand (not discounting TM Racing as a top Italian marque as well).
Price will have a bearing on my decision as well, as for my Beta card I am focusing on the Race edition version, why not, I think it will still fall below the retail price of the MY14 KTM300XC ( I have a written OTD price on one) and most likely the same for the new Husky TE300. PS this whole dream may or may not happen coming into the new year, and may extend out as far as fall of 14......lets see how the 13 TXC310R holds up and if anyone wants to bite at buying it. Looks like I have a solid buyer for my most excellent TE310.
 
For MotoSportz, you will like the Sherco, Im sure the 2T will be like the 300i chassis and its really good and very user friendly, easy to ride with confidence (like an evolution of the X-lite style chassis feel 125/250/310).
It took about a clutch release and 10 feet to feel complete comfort on the Chilly test 300i. They have top tier enduro guys in the R&D dept and the platform is very solid and neutral, the French racing Bleu is nice as well.
At this moment in the enduro world having a French designed enduro bike is like tapping into the bloodline of the top tier enduro riders of the world with the grandfather line as well (Lalay, Peterhansel et al). For sure they have a connection to know what works....and they are now tapping into their French MX bloodline as well. I believe Sherco is really on the rise.
