• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

*** New Dates! *** Spring Fling Husky Ride, Stonyford, CA, May 13,14,15

There was a break in the rain here in the valley mid day on Saturday. I took the 630 for a rip a short way up the start of the foothills this side on the valley. It looked like it was raining pretty good across from here in the foothills of the coast range. Stony is farther south then from where I could see..anyway..I hope they refund your $ for the campsite reservation.
630 plug... Frick the bike has some long, strong legs. I passed 2 cagers at 85mph, darn near at a 45 degree angle to my left because of the wind, (OK, it felt like 45*, prob. was more like 50* :D) and the bike was crusing and wanted to go faster. My old DRZ S would have been fighting hard to get this speed in the wind.

Maybe I can make it out when you guys set a new date. Got my exhaust off right now. Should be in the mail on its way back to me from George at Up Tite. Can't wait to see what he has done.

Sweet! Sounds like you and the 630 are getting along great

Glad to hear there was a break in the weather. Warm temps are forecasted for the following week so maybe some of that snow at Stonyford will melt. We're working on a new date here pretty soon.

We ended up heading to central CA. We rode Ballinger Fri and Sat, then headed out on the big bikes Saturday afternoon for some Carrizo Plain action, then spent Sunday on the sunny coast. We got hit by maybe 20 raindrops all weekend and conditions were absolutely EPIC! I love it down there.

I have been wondering if they were kind enough to refund the deposit you put down for that weekend?

Yes, what is the status on that? If nothing else we need to chip in and cover that if they wont refund.

Thanks, guys, but I wouldn't worry about it. They refunded 2 of the 3 nights, and there was a $10 cancellation fee. No way am I going to ask for you guys to pay for a campground when you didn't even get to ride!

We're keeping an eye on the weather (it was 79 degrees in the town of Stonyford yesterday

) and we're thinking sometime in the end of April or early May

Trails will be epic then (if not now). I'm post #170 of this thread!!

Edited first post with new dates! May 13,14,15

The trails are in pretty good shape. Eric and I spent last weekend riding there. The "teens" trails are still under snow but they should be good to go by the new dates of May 13,14,15.
Of course, the trade-off will be some dust on the higher exposed trails, but it will make for nicer camping. I've reserved the Gray Pine group campground again and we are on!

Please let me know if you can make the new date! It is after Mother's Day but 2 weeks before Memorial Day

We both have a side job that makes us work on the weekends sometimes. (Gotta pay the $1K+ cat vet bill somehow ) Well pooh on that side job as it is making us work on May 14th. We won't be able to do any camping that weekend, but we can get out there Sunday the 15th for some dirt.

Okay...

I'm probably going to cancel the group campground if it is not needed. I really need to know who is going to come and who isn't. If at all possible, can I please get a confirmation either way from everyone by no later than April 28th? That will allow me to cancel the group campground without it costing me money again.

Thank-you.

I'd love to go, but I won't know if I can make it till a few days or even the day before. I will try to make even if its just a day trip If I have the time.
