• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

*** New Dates! *** Spring Fling Husky Ride, Stonyford, CA, May 13,14,15

Ok, so I cancelled the Gray Pine Group Campground. We will now be staging out of the Davis Flat area, which is just down the road a few hundred yards from the group campground.
It is just across the bridge on the left $5 per auto (truck, car, RV, etc. No additional charge for the 12 bikes on the flatbed :D)
Sounds great!

Although I do remember a time in the not too distant past when camping there was free... :(

Yeah, they all used to be free there. You know, back when there was running water and a dump station.
Nothing like paying more for less

Cool! When you say early, about what time are you expecting to arrive at Stonyford? I'm going to try to go up Thursday night but it might end up being early Friday morning. I'm thinking I'm going to cancel the group campground since there won't be as many of us as there were going to be before changing the dates. The last day to cancel without having to pay is tomorrow so if anyone has any thoughts one way or the other speak up now! There is plenty of room for us at Davis Flat and it's only $5 per night per vehicle (car, truck, RV, etc...not per bike.)

Pls let me know if/when you're coming, everyone!

I'm planning on showing up Wednesday night or Thursday morning. It sounds like the alternate location is a day use area, but I'm still interested in camping out so how is that going to work? Do we reserve our own camping sites?

No, the alternate location is also a camping area. Actually it is a large gravel area, possibly the size of a football field, where people can camp. I will be there with a tent - and air mattress. :)

Yep, what Coffee said

If you're there early, I would strongly suggest pulling into the big dirt area and immediately heading all the way back, furthest from the entrance as possible. This will cut down on traffic/noise/dust in our compound, and it's just nicer all the way towards the end, maybe up against the hill. See if you can secure a fire ring, too

If you want to stop on the way, we're about 3.5 hours south of Stonyford, but we're a long way from HWY 5

When do you plan on getting there, Dean?

Leaving now...

(tough week...)

I dunno... possibly early, Maybe wed night or Thursday afternoon.

Cool. A friend of mine was there this past weekend and he said it was packed down below, lots of folks eveywhere. Makes me kinda wish I hadn't cancelled the group campground yet

If you guys can get there early that would be cool

Y'all have fun down there and no collisions allowed this time.

Cast comes off end of May so I am looking forward to the next western CH gathering....

It's looking like I may not make it. I have something I need to do on Sunday. I can't get Friday off and it's too far for a day ride.

Could we get a reasonably firm head count? I can get there as early as Wed PM if others are going to be there.. but I'd rather show up Thursday if no one else is going to be there on Wed.

General statement: For those people who have my cell number, I don't have text messages enabled so if you send any I will not see them.

Just call instead.
