  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st new bike prep

Husqvarna
A Class
so my 08 cr 125 shows up and I'm going to take the approach that it has had minimal dealer prep. There is fluid in the rad. Doesn't appear to be anything in the tranny so I'll add that. I'll check the more obvious nuts and bolts the air filter appears to be oiled but I don't know how old that is so I'll clean and re oil. Guess I could call the dealer and ask?? hit the grease nipples in the linkage. the bike got here before all the paper work. What is the torque spec on the triple clamp bolts?? I don't really plan to do the rip it apart and rebuild it approach. but would like to give it a pretty good look over. at first glance things look pretty good. It has an ohlins rear shock, I thought it was suppose to have a sachs?? this bike has the same suspension as my 06 gasser!! 45 zokes up front and onlins in the back.

and whats the deal with break in oil ratio?? I've read some run 24:1 for a tank. Is this the norm or is 32:1 to start out with fine?? And what about breaking in with full synth? isn't that suppose to be some kind of no no??

Yes, check over everything. The last new bike I got was accidentally filled with tranny oil twice apparently. Excited, I got the machine home, fired it up and went for a five minute spin in the empty field next door. when I came back the bike had oil all over the swing arm and rear tire. Turns out it all came from the tranny vent tube (which is attached to a fitting that is coming out of a baffled channel in the centercase). I ended up having to remove almost a quart of oil to get the level correct. And then I had to get all that oily mess off of my brand new machine.:censored:

Skid,
Huskys are usually well greased, but the white lithium grease is water soluble. You need to regrease steering stem, swingarm pivot, linkage andwheels with waterproof grease. With the wet Summer that is developing, you'll regret not spending the time doing it.:banghead:

yes john is did come from ridersville

and thanks for the low down on the grease norm. Do I have to pull all the linkage apart or can you just inject some better quality stuff in there??

it looks like it is going to be raining over the holiday up here so maybe i will pull it apart!!

I always break in my 2 stroke engines on an oil rich mixture. Our '09 Cr 125 went through two tanks of 24:1 and several heat cycles before I started using 32:1. The WR 300 had two tanks of 32:1 before switching to 50:1.

guess I'll run some 24:1 for a bit then. any feedback on the don't use full synth for break in philosophy??

how about some spring rate suggestions
I just noticed that it has a 48 spring on the back. I'm generally 180 to 185 in the buff.

Be sure to check and re-check the sprocket bolts and spokes before and after your first ride and then every few hours for the first 30 hours or so.
