• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need a new TE 630 dashboard

Hi guys,

I need to replace the dashboard of my TE630. The one that is currently on the bike got moisture inside and even though it is dry now, it does not seem to work properly. It still works but there are problems that I associated with it, i.e., the low light doesn't work and the high beam light doesn't work.
BTW, I think the moisture got in through the mode selector button. The rubber (or is it plastic) button cracked and I only realized it when I removed the dashboard to dry it.

So, I need to buy new dashboard. The question is, should I get an OEM dashboard or should I go with an aftermarket one, Trail Tech?

What would you guys suggest, OEM dashboard or TrailTech dashboard?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Thank you, motranqui.
I have a question...or two...
if I only want to replace the dashboard, not doing any te to sm change, do I still need to do the steps explained in that thread? Or is it simply a plug and play?

Thanks,
bob

If you don't mind my jumping in it's my understanding that the TE and SM use the same instrument cluster and you only get ONE CHANCE to set it up correctly, once plugged in. So it's a matter of making the right selection (for TE or for SM) in the start up menu as it can't be changed, once entered. This is what motranqui is referring to.

Yes, Eric V is right

Sorry, may be this post explain better this issue

The point is, once you plug the new OEM dashboard to the bike, you have only a few seconds to select SM mode or TE mode. If you don't chose any, the dashboard will set in SM mode... This was what happened to me, as in the Dashboard box nor the bike manual there is any kind of instructions warning you about it :(

Thank you very much Eric and motranqui. Good to know that the default mode is TE, so I've nothing to worry about.
