  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc My cylinder is a paper weight -- what years will fit?

As promised, I've had a hunt around but the only place that I can find one is pretty pricey! Maybe the one in Poland for 680usd is a better option, (it's certainly a cheaper option than out here). Sorry I couldn't help more

I could probably suss this out if someone wants it? Easy enough to post overseas Cosmo.

Edit: Ahhh man it's in karratha! Bit too far to drive

Stand by, gents, my bike is still in the shop. The cylinder goes to the machining guru this coming week for evaluation. I appreciation all the attention and kind offers, BTW.

The bike shop got the bike back to me. The guy personally delivered it to my house. He did a bottom end on it. We started it in front of my house and rode it up the street. CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK as soon as you get on it and get over 1/8 throttle. He says he had the machine shop guru guy check tolerances and everything checked out. I'm thinking millennium screwed up the "pump gas" porting. It must be ported for race gas or something like that and is detonating. I'm getting a bit tired of this - 6 months into this and a whole bunch of dollars that could have gone into a new bike. I think it's time to part it out.

Could be your timing.
If that's out too far advanced then it can cause pre ignition.
Your close keep going...

Even if they did that, it shouldn't matter until you get it under a load and heavy acceleration. You were looking for flywheel torque, so go with Juicy on this and check the timing.

That is cheap! I'm thinking of snagging one since it shows 5 available. Though the listing shows 99-00, was this motor ever changed that much?

Wow, thats cheap! Might have to snag one as a spare.

Just a heads up to anyone, these are listed for a 99-00 250 and looks like they have slightly different port timing from the 01-08 250's along with a different main PV. But it looks like the covers, secondary PV's, rods, bushings, gears, etc. are all the same.

Re built a 98 and a 01 your correct the centre top of is the only difference that I could see I didn't measure them tho. But side by side looked close.

I wouldn't like to say, they looked close think the 98 was tapered and the 01 was more rectangular.
Think it would work but it wouldn't be right.
Heck at that price is worth it as a paper weight.
An you get piston.
