• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

:eek:WHAT!...I had the pleasure of speaking with Mandi after the River Ranch Gncc...Great lady, but unfortunate that the tranny crapped out ,getting a dnf .What's worse is she said that at the National Enduro earlier she had engine failure. She said that Hall's was suppose to get her set up with another bike before GNCC opener, but she had already hit the road after getting the info. Now she is borrowing a KTM from friend(Nicole,I think)finishing ok in 2nd Gncc, then this weekend podiums right behind Maria Forsberg...one extremely fast women! I feel like I just got punched in the gut**************************************** I 'm hoping she doesn't jump ship..and I hope Hall's and Husqvarna can step it up and get her sorted out. Maybe she should start racing the 310...she did really well on the 350.I wish I had just won the MegaMillions this past week, cuz I would definately would set her up...and of course some of my other go fast Husky riders, too!

Sadly she has been running Rotella in her bikes. Just because someone said it was OK. I wish she would start riding a 2 stroke like mine. She would love it.

What's the problem with Rotella? There certainly seems to be a favorable opinion of Rotella in the GNCC pro circles. That's where I heard of it and started using it fairly recently.

If she rode a Walt Smith 165 She would NEVER ride a 4 stroke again Halls does have a 165 comming so she should get in line for a test ride

THE MOTOR IS THAT GOOD PERIOD

It is a poor oil choice for a high rpm race bike. Rotella isn't even as good as it was 10 years ago. They keep lowering ZDDP from the formula. A racing 4 stroke needs a good synthetic motorcycle racing oil that meets JASO MA. Yes, Rotella meets JASO MA but it barely does and is not a racing oil. I seriously doubt that many pro riders use rotella in their engines when they are sponsored by oil companies like Motul, Motorex, Maxima, PJ1, Belray, or other racing oils. Why would they put an inferior product in their bikes when they can get a good product for free ? That would make no sense. No, Rotella "SYNTHETIC" is not a synthetic. It is a Group III base lube. You want to use a PAO (Group IV) or Ester (Group V) or a blend thereof . Yes, these are more expensive but so is your engine. You also can go longer between oil changes with a good motorcycle racing oil. It doesn't break down as fast. Protects longer under heat and RPM.

I know. I may let her test ride my bike at the next Nat'l Enduro. I have known Mandy for many years. Since she was about 3. Her Father, Randy, was my room mate at the ISDE in Czechoslovakia in 1982.

You'd think! I certainly thought that too. Buuuuuut, Mandi started using it because of someone's opinion whom she trusted. And she's been around long enough not to listen to some bozo. Did she not have an oil sponsor? I think it was 2 years ago when I saw Chris Bach carrying one of the big jugs of Rotella that you can get for $22ish from Walmart. That was the year he was a semi-support rider and probably didn't have an oil sponsor. No idea why other pros would use it if they have oil sponsors but I promise you I've seen it in the pro pits. Stu Baylor is a good example of a semi-support pro this year, does he have an oil sponsor? Granted, he's on a smoker. But even still if he doesn't have an oil sponsor you can't beat the price of Rotella and I know he's racing on a shoe string budget.

That said, I've only recently switched after using Yamalube exclusively in my WR290F. Paying $11 for Yamalube (or even worse $15 for a quart of Bel-ray!) adds up quickly. $22ish for a gallon of Rotella is appealing. I questioned switching many many times. Still do.

Not here to pic a fight and will not give any names but there is Pro riders that have used Rotella in GNCC Racing with good resualts!

PLEASE DO! But will you be ready to give up your bike for the whole long race season she is plannin' on running:eek:....Someone close to Hall's/Husqvarna needs to get the ball rolling...that women needs a couple bikes for doing GNCC,Nat'l. Enduros, throwing in a few Endurocross' and possibly the ISDE !

I have seen some teams that used Rotella bottles that they had poured into their race rig to pour oil into their bikes. Many Sponsored teams get oil in 55 gallon drums and pump it out into the smaller quart bottles. I heard them laughing one day that they had people thinking they were actually using Rotella in their race bikes because someone saw them pouring oil out of a Rotella bottle.

I agree that husky should kick a bike her way if she is turning in good results.
Mandy is definitely going to be on the step in the women races. If shes using rotella then thats her choice.Maybe not the best one.
The Mastins have been in the game a long time.
Sounds like she had bad luck and who ever built the motor missed something.
Thats just my option. If your going to rev. it to the moon week in week out you better have spares.
I blown up my share of the these rev until it pops then shift 250Fs. Hope she sticks with Husky.

That's pretty darn funny if that's the root of the Rotella love! Makes sense as the larger jugs are easier to fill and transport.

I think I'll keep using it in my xr650r but go back to Yamalube for my race bike. Just not worth it.

i said i use it in my truck, not the dirt scooter but like been stated already with the high cost of lubes etc i dont blame anyone for looking for a cheaper alternative if theres one to be had out there.

Bach is tighter than bark on a tree. He was probable bumming some oil from somebody who had a sponsor.

One thing for sure if you have ever spent any time in pro racing you plug your sponsers. The last thing you would do is tell everbody you were running Rotella and loose that sponser, because its a lube deal not an oil deal fork oil, shock oil, brake fluid, air filter oil, chain lube, contact cleaner, silcone spray, ect. Sponsers are hard to find and hard to keep teams and riders are not dumb at least not very long!

Judging from her Facebook posts, it doesn't sound like she's had good bike luck this year period. Her ISDE Husky blew up. Her two home Huskies blew up. Then her backup Yamaha blew up. Hopefully her new Huskies from Halls will be able to keep up with the rigors imposed by our favorite female Husky rider. :)
