As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
You got that right, she'd love a WB165!Sadly she has been running Rotella in her bikes. Just because someone said it was OK. I wish she would start riding a 2 stroke like mine. She would love it.
It is a poor oil choice for a high rpm race bike. Rotella isn't even as good as it was 10 years ago. They keep lowering ZDDP from the formula. A racing 4 stroke needs a good synthetic motorcycle racing oil that meets JASO MA. Yes, Rotella meets JASO MA but it barely does and is not a racing oil. I seriously doubt that many pro riders use rotella in their engines when they are sponsored by oil companies like Motul, Motorex, Maxima, PJ1, Belray, or other racing oils. Why would they put an inferior product in their bikes when they can get a good product for free ? That would make no sense. No, Rotella "SYNTHETIC" is not a synthetic. It is a Group III base lube. You want to use a PAO (Group IV) or Ester (Group V) or a blend thereof . Yes, these are more expensive but so is your engine. You also can go longer between oil changes with a good motorcycle racing oil. It doesn't break down as fast. Protects longer under heat and RPM.What's the problem with Rotella? There certainly seems to be a favorable opinion of Rotella in the GNCC pro circles. That's where I heard of it and started using it fairly recently.
I know. I may let her test ride my bike at the next Nat'l Enduro. I have known Mandy for many years. Since she was about 3. Her Father, Randy, was my room mate at the ISDE in Czechoslovakia in 1982.If she rode a Walt Smith 165 She would NEVER ride a 4 stroke again Halls does have a 165 comming so she should get in line for a test ride
THE MOTOR IS THAT GOOD PERIOD

PLEASE DO! But will you be ready to give up your bike for the whole long race season she is plannin' on runningI know. I may let her test ride my bike at the next Nat'l Enduro. You'd think! I certainly thought that too. Buuuuuut, Mandi started using it because of someone's opinion whom she trusted. And she's been around long enough not to listen to some bozo. Did she not have an oil sponsor? I think it was 2 years ago when I saw Chris Bach carrying one of the big jugs of Rotella that you can get for $22ish from Walmart. That was the year he was a semi-support rider and probably didn't have an oil sponsor. No idea why other pros would use it if they have oil sponsors but I promise you I've seen it in the pro pits. Stu Baylor is a good example of a semi-support pro this year, does he have an oil sponsor? Granted, he's on a smoker. But even still if he doesn't have an oil sponsor you can't beat the price of Rotella and I know he's racing on a shoe string budget.
That said, I've only recently switched after using Yamalube exclusively in my WR290F. Paying $11 for Yamalube (or even worse $15 for a quart of Bel-ray!) adds up quickly. $22ish for a gallon of Rotella is appealing. I questioned switching many many times. Still do.
.... I heard them laughing one day that they had people thinking they were actually using Rotella in their race bikes because someone saw them pouring oil out of a Rotella bottle.
