• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Magnificent 7

Ta Da!

Here is standard Cawi cap that I converted to vent style.

Got caps for all bikes. So gonna convert them all.

I got a billet cap from Husky Junk for Maico. Going to polish it up.

cant beat a box of new bits.....

Thanx!

Been very frustrating ordering parts. In fact the ones from Australia got here even before Canada. In fact Canadian ones still not here.

3 Ignitions, Electrex decided after a week of taking my money. They didn’t have them and no estimate when they would have parts. So went with HPI ones and should be here today. Only 3 days from Belgium! Not bad!

So just been prepping stuff. Bead blasted cylinder. Got the head all sanded but not sure if I will polish it? Front hub bead blasted ready for my Gunkote shipment to arrive, in order to paint. Think you guys will like the artistical painting I have in store for bike! Gonna be bad ass bike! Cylinder is on second to last bore and is going to powerseal to get plated. I found a Mahle piston for it.

Fork legs and shock springs go to powder coater today. On legs, I filled in all pits, dings, gouges, scrapes, etc..... with JB Marine Weld like a bondo job. I sanded everything out and feathered it. I even went back over entire leg with low pressure glass beads. Powder coater wanted me to bake it as well, so there is no shrinkage. Legs should look good when done.

I got tons stuff coming. IT JUST AINT HERE YET! Arrrrg!

Learned a lot along the way! This go around....

When you go to order parts. Email them first! See if item is in stock, even if they have the number in stock on their website. Most didn’t even have stock. Second is to see how fast they respond, as in customer service. If they don’t respond in couple days drive on. Because if you buy from them and something is damaged. Good luck getting your money back or return email.
Then email them a list of items needed and have them invoice you via email, pay pal, etc....

Blows my mind all the suppliers that lost big orders from me! But their loss, not mine! Just over lousy customer service.....

Saga continues:

Got nice box of parts but when I opened the box. I got someone else’s order.

So going to send these on to guy in Florida while they trying to figure out where my parts went.

I got my 3 ignitions from HPI. That was fast from Belgium. So all Husky’s get all new ignitions except for the 125 which is a good tested moto plat mini 6.

Wow. Lucky for the guy in Florida that you are honest and willing to save him the return and reshipping time. I don't suppose you are lucky enough that he got your order? Ha.

I have not yet messed with any of the aftermarket ignitions, but probably will have to cross that bridge soon. Every working ignition I have is installed and running. Any additional projects will need a new sparker thingy, so I'll be eager to hear what you think.

Yes, I’m sure some would make him issue a call tag to pick it up. But I know how it is on other end! It’s like Christmas and we want our presents.

So, that’s 3 New Electrex ignitions and 3 New HPI ignitions, I will be trying out. I’m sure they will perform good. Seems like the dependable ignition route everyone is going to.

Ha! One of the shipments got held up at customs. I had to fill out forms, that the rims are non highway use and that the motorcycle was classified non hwy back in 79.
Had to provide vin, copies of manual.
Actually, gal was really good.
Gees what a pain! Plus, got nailed on import taxes.
Oldbikedude, this was all in Philadelphia. Should of just had you go down and take care of it!

Yes, its been a problem have had two shipments from over the pond tagged for import taxes. Beats me on which package they decide to choose. Well one was a package of igntions !

No problem with Australia also. Been getting those Geoff Morris pipes shipped with no problem and he packs then so well all protected and all , no one ever un wrapped them. I have other boxes opened. So

far no troubles with any of HVA parts from Andy

I got nailed on one of Andy’s shipments, now this one. Then again, I’ve had several more skate right through.

Go figure?
