  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just bought 2 new TE310R's--now what?

Hi, I drove 6 hours to pick-up the bikes (no nearby dealer). Anyway got the bikes home and they barley even run.No power-up kit was in the box.How do I get these bikes to run? They are totally restricted.where can I order the exhaust plug and Lambda sensor??

Well, the bad news is, AFAIK, you have to take them to the dealer to do the powerup, because the ECU has to be reflashed. (or possibly remove the ECU and send it to the dealer)

I'm waiting for mine, but the ECU will have been reflashed when I pick it up. Hopefully I can sort the rest out myself.

You should be able to order the exhaust plug through your dealer, as well as the terminator for the lambda sensor. The lambda sensor is what you'll be removing and where you'll be inserting the exhaust plug.

Apart from that, you'll need to modify/replace your air filter cage and (assuming you're going to be trail riding) swap out the 40 tooth sprocket for something usable, like a 50.

Not sure if I'm forgetting something else, but hopefully someone that has already done this can chime in.

Well, if the selling dealer did not know enough to do the power-up prior to delivery, I certainly would not waste 6 hours hauling the bikes back there. Tinken mentioned a mail-in off-road only ECU reflash service that ZipTy might be offering. Perhaps you could PM him? Also, I don't know what the Husky HST costs, but I purchased the iBeat setup for my 2012 TE310 and consider it to be money well spent.

Yep,it was a KTM dealer in Virginia.Ok so I removed the octopuss and cat from 1.It runs better allready, has 4 miles so far.The other wouldnt run at all,so i looked at the airfilter and it had a mx style filter cage in it.(?) I put the restricted one back in it and it runs OK with 1 mile on it.
So I think im going to leave one restricted as a control and set up the other.
Whats that orange thing behind the backfire screen in the intake?should that be removed?

It's the velocity stack. I hear there are two versions; a restricted one, and an open one. The restricted one is perforated at the end closest to the engine. The open one is a straight shot. If you have not done the ECU reflash, I'd stick with the restricted one, as the open one is likely to make a lean running condition even worse.

The 2013 TE310 does not require much in order for it to be running like the TXC but note that this is the off road setup.

1. Removed the restrictive air filter cage and replace it with one from the TXC.
2. Removed the mesh backfire screen from the air filter cage.
3. Removed the red velocity stack (Bored out the restricted end of the velocity stack but it still ran better without it).
4. Had the ECU re-flashed with the "Race" settings. Note: according to my dealer there are 3 setting for the 2013 model. Standard, Race, Race with modified exhaust.
5. Removed the canister and blocked off the fitting on the intake manifold.
6. O2 sensor is still in place and attached. The race map ignores it. You can remove it if you wish.
7. Removed the CAT from the exhaust. It's located between the silencer and the head pipe.
8. No throttle adjustments have been necessary. I don't believe that this year had a throttle restrictor.

Good luck!

Thank you.
I will keep u guys posted with a ride report when I can.
So far on one i removed the cat, charcol cannister and plugged its hole. it has 8 miles on it and runs ok for a dual sport.
The control unit 2nd bike all stock, actually runs a bit better.it has 4 miles on it and 5 or 6 heat cycles.had it up to 70 mph on the street.
I will ride them more when I can, Its raining again so...

Go to Jersey Central Cycle in Eatontown Jersey, coming from long Island that would be your best. Also, Bob is very knowledgeable and has most all parts you would need. I have a 2011 TE250 and 2012 TXC310 he alway has what i need I would never go any else. Town & Country sucks unless you buy a bike from there.
