  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Is the 300 right for me??

Just picked up a 2010 WR300 with a Recluse EXP and Enduro Engineering suspension this morning. Its real ugly (even has an old yellow rear fender), but all the mechanical bits seem to be good.

I had an 07 WR250, 08 TE450 and 09 TXC250/310 and about 15 different Hondas and Yamahas before that. I was hesitant to go back to the old frame, but after riding it, no regrets at all. Nice and light feeling and fits my frame perfectly. I felt right at home about 100m down the trail.

The reworked Kayaba fork works a lot better than the Marzoccis the old 250 had. The recluse is magic. Just leave it in second or third gear and it never stalls. I did find I had to concentrate more on getting slowed down for corners. Combination of a lot more HP than the 310 and no compression breaking with the Recluse.

I bought a wr300 back in july, awesome bike! that is once I got it setup to my liking. Suspension needs to be setup correctly,The pwk AS is magic for this bike, adds to the bottem and strong smooth power all the way though to a nice over rev. I added a rekluse also,it does feel like cheating.lol

+1 on the corners, I blew a corner on my last ride, 7 weeks ago.. broke my collar bone. At least I'm back to work now : )

Woohoo! Bought my WR300 last Saturday and can't wait to put some time on it :-) What have you guys figured out on sag setting? Thought about going with the standard 100mm and adjusting from there? Also, what Rekluse system are y'all running, the Z-Start Pro or EXP insert? Thanks for all the great info before the buy, you guys sold it to me!

Z-Start Pro is what I'm running, love it. Quick throttle response, no slippage. I can pop the front wheel from a dead start ( no clutch lever just a LHRB )although I went 2 teeth larger on the rear sprocket. When climbing a tight single track snotty hill with the Rekluse, Tractionator Tire and Racehead during a race all I can do is grin as I pass by the pumpkins.

I'm running the exp,I actually went up a tooth in the front. The pwk makes no need for using the clutch, just blip and front wheel is up.

Ok, now I'm stuck (only in thought!), thought I would go for the full Z-Start..now I'm thinking about the EXP drop in. Anyone want throw in a tie-breaker??

Not a tie breaker, but a consideration...
Z-start has an odd clutch feel until higher RPMs. EXP (I've heard) has a tougher clutch pull.

the exp does have a harder pull,But feels the same as feel goes. But honestly there is no need to ever grab the lever again.lol I race 3hr B class hare scrambles and rarely use. My wife has the pro in her bike, lever does not feel right until above idle and makes the bike feel a little soft off the bottem. p.s. If you go for the exp, make sure you get the heavy wedges. It come with the medium.

In my bike I use the z pro and do like that you can still use the clutch as per standard if you want. This is on a TXC mind you.

Thanks for all the great info again guys! After talking with Rekluse about it, I think I'm going with a full-on Z Start Pro as soon as I get the funds :-) After that it's a full FMF system!

its a TEC, or know as a two stroke exhaust controller, it slows to opening of the power valve to give you a more predictable power delivery. it works awesome. take look of pics of andreas lettenbichlers wr300 from erzberg, youll see the same thing on his bike
