• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

In Search Of Water In The Desert: Photos And Ride Report

.......and another Thank You. Reading thru this was a great way to start my Monday morning.

at one point in Oregon you guys were less than 150 miles West of where I was camped in Idaho, out in the Owyhees

Well, we had our eye on Three Forks on the Owyhee but we had more ambition than time so that ride will have to wait til next time. Do you know if there's gas available in Rome?

And thanks, everyone, for the compliments. I had a great time on the ride, and had a good time putting the report together. Next time, though, I'm going to split the photos up into 2 separate photo albums on PhotoBucket; the file was so big it was taking forever to get the photos in the post:banghead:

Man this has been the mother of all adventures and reports. How many total days and miles????

 Thanks, Ace! We rode Thurs, Fri, Sat and Mon (I'm not including the little 40-mile attempt on Sunday when Eric's fuel screw fell out) and logged 608 miles. We only meant to do a short trip on Thursday, the day we got there, but it turned into a much bigger ride than we thought...but we were happy about it!

I still haven't posted photos of the wildflowers :D

I am overwhelmed....

Hey : I saw you reply on ADV rider , the post on Northeast Or. My son(Greg) is the rider in blue helmet, red jacket, yellow Suuzuki. His buddy Jim was on the Husky 610. I referred him to your story( In search of water) . His remark was , ' I know that area and all the soaking springs " He really enjoyed the report as did I . Thanks: Julio

Been a while since I was thru there, but if I remember right, that is about the only thing in Rome.

Just re-read the thread... Absolutely incredible!

I really like this one! Might want to add it to your CH Album for easy reference

What a great trip! :applause: The two of you are so lucky! It looks like your 610 works well in dirt mode. Makes me want one even more...

Awesome trip  Love exploring.

You should replace your headlight shell with that skull, what's another 15 pounds of high placed weight going to hurt. :D

I can only imagine the glowing eyes of that skull when she was riding!

Talk about a super moderator picture - very intimidating. :D
