Here is what I am pulling out of my engine. George (Up-tite) just rebuilt my engine, and I rode an easy 100 street miles with the stock 1/4 throttle stop in, changed the oil and no metal. I then rode an easy 300 dirt/street miles with the 1/4 throttle stop in, changed the oil, no metal. Took the throttle stop out. I then rode from Tecate to San Felipe (224 miles), then from San Felipe to Bay of LA (239 miles), changed the oil, no metal. I then rode from Bay of LA to San Ignacio (263 miles), then San Ignacio to Puerto San Carlos (301 miles) changed the oil, and pulled this off the magnet.
The consensus is that these are pieces of the race for one of the internal bearings. Motor still sounds and feels strong. I have not noticed any strange noises or any performance issues.
I have pulled the magnet on each of my oil changes to check for metal. I am sitting in the hotel room in San Carlos and crying because I fear this is the end of my trip. We have 2 more days to Cabo. All the work and the saga I went through to get here, and my husky just can't make it. I just want to die. Any thoughts?
