  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc I Rode The Prototype Wr200 And It Is Amazing...

Here is my setup thus far 144cc vs 167cc. I am sending Walt a FMF 200SX pipe at end of week. As good as the Uptite kit is , I can see advantages of Walts 165cc kit. I don't think the port timing is changed because of the piston that Uptite uses because there is a spacer plate to bring everything back to norm. BUT, you would for sure lose crankcase compression. That will effect performance. Back in the early 70s , tuners would stuff the crankcase to up the compression. Also Walts piston is lighter. Note my jetting is with a 36mm not 38mm carb.

Year & Bike Model = 2011 WR150 with Uptite Husqvarna 167cc kit.
Carb = 36mm Keihin PWK A/S from 2011 KTM 150XC
Pipe & Silencer = FMF Fatty WR125 pipe / FMF S/A silencer (going to try a modified FMF KTM 2003-04 SX200 pipe)
Other engine mods = Exhaust spirngs Stock / silver.
Premix ratio & fuel type = Maxima K2 @ 40:1, 100LL AvGas / 110 Sunoco race gas mixed 4 gal AvGas to1 gal Race Gas.
Temperature range (deg F) = 65
Elevation (feet) = 300ft. to 1,700ft ASL
Main jet = 170 (144cc = 175)
Pilot jet = 35
Needle = NOZH (NOZI stock) (slightly richer needle so I could run on #3 position and keep more needle in needle jet.
Clip position = #3 NOZH richer than stock NOZI #3
Air screw setting = 3 (144cc = 2 3/4)
Slide = 6.0 (stock 7.0)
CHECK YOUR FLOAT SETTINGS. Mine was too high and overflowing when you hit bumps or slightly leaned the bike over. Set Keihin at 14mm
No bogs now gone. 21mpg.
Gearing 14T / 50T Parts Unlimited Xring Chain.

So what is your opinion of how that runs?

As for the TXC310, while I really liked it if I was going to ride a 4T, the 165 with the KTM Fatty pipe flat runs much stronger everywhere. There I said it and now I can get flamed. I thought it at the time and my 165 was running crappy with a lead fouling plug.

I have a 2010 TC250 and my buddy has a 2011 TE310 with JD tuner. The WB165 with KTM200 SX pipe feels like it has more power to me to. And i think i need a slightly smaller main and it will gain even more top which is already VERY good.

Anyway thanks for putting this WB165 together and I will more than likely be upgrading my WS144 (Walt Special 144). Man I'm scared to mess with that 144 LOL.

Don't be, the WB165 flat rips the head off the 144, no comparison and you will never look back. Seriously.

Thus far, Top end seems the same with more and smoother low and mid range. For sure produces enough torque that you need to gear a lot taller. I put on a 14T (had a 13T) and could barely tell the difference until the upper gears where it actually seemed to pull better. I am putting on a 50T rear (had a 52T) for sure and I run tight woods. Before dropping the main two sizes it would blubber just as it came onto the main then clean out. Usually after running at lower rpm in the woods for a while. No blubber at all on needle or bottom.

Very good Kelly; thanks. Hey the WB165 runs on 93 correct? Hope so that way I won't need to remember to make sure I have 110 oct as I run a mix of it and 93 with my 144. Hey K my bike is an 08CR so should I look for an older jug or just send the current set up when you are ready with the kits?

Thanks for the info. Will be interesting to see what you think of the 200 pipe on there.

Mine is running pump gas, thats how Walt set it up. The 08 jug will work fine. We are waiting for the next batch of pistons.

Kelly I know it's early in the sale stage for the WB165 but what is your best guess as to when the kits will be ready for sale? What will the down time will be after placing the order? How complete will the kit be? Do/will we need additional gaskets etc.? Will we need to remove/re-install the PV's or send the whole upper end to you for exchange? Hope all this hasn't been asked and answered. Thanks, John

We have several cylinders getting reworked right now and are awaiting the next batch of custom pistons. Everything will be included, bolt on kit. We will need your cylinder and powervalves setups to redo for the next kit. Cylinder and everything but the PV cover and actuation arm. If you want your exact cylinder back we can do that too but would take additional time. The original idea is get this stuff in stock (end of the month we hope) and simply do exchange. Make sense?

Thanks.
