  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc I Rode The Prototype Wr200 And It Is Amazing...

I,m kinda sitting back in the shadow and looking in and hav
ing a great time.I have the same pipe as Matt and a FMFSX200 pipe on it,s way,I live in KTM country so there are plenty pipes around for me,I also have 3 wr125 pipes to rob the parts from and my own mig welder. When my 165 kit arrives I will be putting 2 different pipes together, already think the older EXC FMF pipe will work better in NE harsh conditions, rock gardens and then some more rock gardens, the EXC pipe tucks in much better.I have an 09 WR125 and I will be running stock carb with the Suzuki 04 RM needle 5. slideand right now I have a brand new 13 52 combo with pro taper xring chain, willbe going to a 14 counter,Just fun riding so I won,t be as picky as most, costly racing and hard earned championchips are all a good memory now,Christ I would have paid off my house by now,but it was all worth it.Thanks Mat,Walt and Motosportz for the great work.

Hey Dave I'm a play rider myself so I look forward to reading your test results. I'm looking for smooth low end tractor and goodstrong midrange. Funny thing is I already have that with my Walt 144 kit but like most feel if the 144 is this good wouldn't a 165 be mo-better :D.

My bike is pretty smooth and tractable....

John,I,m coming off a 125,so the 165will be a leap and a half.My freind is a A rider A Vet champ for 2012 and rides a yz125 ,stock engine and when he tried my wr125 he loved how it handled and turned and it felt lighter than his 2010 yz125.I,m trying to convert him to Husky,he just might when he tries the upgraded WR.Norman, like to know your,e set up jetting etc,I,m all ears.

John,

I am really interested in Norman's comparison of his modded 125 pipe and the 200 fatty pipe. At this time the fatty pipe has the best spread of progressive, smooth, torque and power. I can't comment on the Doma pipe that Tim Troffer has and maybe he can let us know how it compares to the fatty on Kelly's bike. Kind of moot though as they are pretty hard to come by. The stock exc 200 pipe that is on Jon's bike makes instant and abrupt bottom/mid power, it is very linear after that with not a lot of loss of top end. At sea level it was a handful and needed FWW in my opinion. The gnarly will only add to that with some additional loss of top.

Walt is definitely correct about the Gnarly taking top end power away. I think it takes all that power and puts in in the low to mid! Talk about a wicked hit! Its fun for play riding but too much for the rough stuff with the OEM power valve spring! Im not going to give up on it though and see if I can make it work. I have a good spring combo now and will start playing with other aspects. Its getting closer every time I change something. Walt says there are a lot of these pipes floating around so I will see if I can get it dialed in to my liking. I am probably going to end up with a FWW.

Guys I think it's time to start a 165 pipe and jetting thread where we list bike, carb, jetting, pipe, and results. I sure I'm gonna need some jetting help with my 08 CR WB165 .

John, thats a great idea. I am not that great at figuring out jetting so that would benefit me too!

favorite thread ever... so, do we think DynoPort will entertain offers to make a 165cc pipe? i remember various hints dropped but not sure anything ever came of those conversations.

Walt, what do you think about a modded Doma pipe from a '04 Gas Gas 200? I have a lead on one for fairly cheap and was curious.

Since Dynoport already makes a Ktm200 big volume pipe I was going to call and see if they can make one with the Husky cylinder flange and no mounts.Reading there web site it looks like they build after you order so I wouldnt think it would be a problem. I can mod the rest and wont have to wait for them to design something from scratch. I did a little reading in the Ktmtalk archives and the Ktm200 Dynoport pipe got really good reviews vs the FmF

Clinton and Tim,

I have talked to Rich and he is certainly willing to make the 165 pipe. Depending on how the 200 fatty compares to the modded 144 pipe he is thinking that with just a few tweaks he can make it even better. He would also be willing make the 200 pipe he has now work but his opinion was that a little further modding to the 144 pipe would make the best all around pipe. Norman has offered to use his bike as a model for the fitment on the 09 and later models and I am sure we can get a pre-09 model for him to work with. If we can make a group buy then it would probably be fairly affordable. Also if we determine the Fatty is best there are some options for a group buy through FMF too. As I have said the pipe is going to take a while to get the best combination and maybe we can even get two different purpose made pipes for the different demands. All great stuff guys.

cool, thanks guys. that was exactly my thought as well... tweak the 144 pipe a bit rather than jump to a 200 pipe. good to hear Rich is interested in working on this stuff. i would def be in for a group buy once we know more.

Sounds spot on Norm. Pulls much higher gearing EZ and that says it all. Even with the 200 pipe it seems to have lots of top end, just shy of stock RPM but way more power.

the dynoport pipe would be cool. Cool looking, support a small shop, multi cone pipe that looks trick. I like it. Sign me up for one or five :D

The main reason I like the KTM200 pipe is the shape as it can be modded to tuck up really well and fits tight to the bike. I have a custom Scalvini pipe that was made for the 165/167 size motor . It works well but it is shaped like a 125 pipe , with the added flange to cone length it hangs pretty low and the cone is pretty wide.

Man, do I feel left out...

I read the additions every day...sounds exciting and my inner two-stroke is calling.

What a difference a year makes! Keep up the movement, fun to watch and Hello to everyone.

We are still here, right now I'm relegated to prepping the '12 TXC250, which by the way is a freakin blast.

The boy took to it big time! Perfect jump from the 125.

Sorry about the mini-hijack, off-topic post...can't even imagine it will derail this train!
(More like a penny on the track...)
