  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

i don´t get it

I just had my 250 in to the shop to do some maintenance and learned that two bearings were seized in the swing arm. I read all the posts about packing more grease into them because the factory does a minimal job. Not something the average jane can do.. so I just left it. Got both of those replaced and all the rest packed with grease and ready for the new season.. So anyone buying these bikes... definitely wants to do this on the ASAP.. mptrays, can't wait to hear when you get your bike back. I'm sure you'll notice a huge difference. I went a step further with the injector/ecu and that even makes performance better. I love the comment about the "girls" bikes (CRF 230 TTR 125).. LOL, you are spot on with that! The X-light makes me ride way differently then with my old Japanese bikes... With all the money I've spent I too was considering going with the KTM 350... but I have so much invested into this husky and just got the rekluse put in that I couldn't go that route. So looking forward to this season after this massive amount of snow melts...

Hey Laura now you did it. i am over the edge. Lol. are you telling me there is another issue with these bikes from the factory and it is not due to epa regs. The epa rap was what i was hanging my hat on that these bikes were not just a complete mess. If i have more issues after the ecu is sorted i am trading this thing for a crf 230 that will run. Lol. I will keep you posted but i am not repacking the bearings on a new bike i will blow it up firstby the way i ride with my friends daughter she is 17 still in high school she rocks a cfr 125 and is fast as hell. No joke i have to work to stay with her she is fearless. So girls bikes be dammed.

LOL, I know a lot of guys that take their son or daughters small 4 strokes and rock the trails faster than most.. It really does come down to rider ability for sure.. I love riding my friend's TTR 125 cause I can put both feet flat on the ground.. so tackling the knarly stuff is a little easier for sure...

As for the extra expense on top of the "Power up", my bike was very boggy on low rpm's. You may not have any issues with the 310 or your riding style. Being new to this type of engine.. I don't ride using the clutch much.. so the bike performed crappy when I cracked the throttle and the engine hesitated and bogged before kicking in.. hence the need for the upgraded injector/ecu. When are you getting the bike back?

hopefully this week not sure. I am more concerned about the bearings right now but what will be will be. I had a lowering link on my yz 426 cause I needed a ladder to start it. you might want to throw one on your bike not to much money and very easy to install will not kill your ground clearance maybe an inch. you will really notice a difference also have the seat trimmed an inch and you will be happy and more confident especially if your bike tends to bog and you need to dab a foot.

Clutch is your friend :cool: You should try to learn to always keep two fingers or one, on the clutch lever. It will really help you in the long run.

Hope the bike works out. My friend had a couple Honda dirt bikes and they are rock solid. I wish they made an enduro/plated dirt bike that wasn't that big honky 600 or that insanely tame 230/250 L. Honda CRs have some crazy torque and grunt power. Now they need one with a plate!

Wish I went the TE310 route instead of the TE250. The 250 is still a really great bike but a little tame for my adrenaline junky needs (even with 50 rear). Those 2013 310R's look pretty sweet though.

Yeah, I'm still learning how to get the most out of this bike. Having smaller hands makes it tough to ride with fingers on the clutch all the time cause I'm too busy holding on. Now that I have the auto-clutch.. I'm still going to try and ride it with the clutch to get the most power out of the engine. I am pretty envious of the bigger bikes and better riders that can get the front end up over the logs and rocks where as I have to do the bounce technique and hope I hit it straight on and not veer off and topple over. Two stroke is just not an option where we ride due to the plate issue and the whole oil mixing deal, so this little light 4 stroke will have to do for now. It's definitely been a learning curve and hope I get better and better with every ride. I just got the front end re-valved to be softer cause those rocks were beating the crap out of me. This snow better leave soon.. I'm going stir crazy for my TE
 
Sorry to hear about the problems with your 310, hopefully you get it sorted out real soon and are ripping up the trails faster than ever, once dialed in these bikes rip!! Luckily here in Australia we don't have the emissions crap on them that you guys get, the majority of dirt bikes here can be registered and ridden on the road:applause:
With regards to the bearings that is not a Husky specific issue ALL manufacturers skimp on bearing grease and all bikes should have a head stem and swing arm grease before hitting the trails.
For the small amount of time it would take you to grease swing arm, head stem and even wheel bearings will save you another headache down the track and also bearings are a consumable and will wear out and need replacing.
All the best with your bike, mine is Awesome and has plenty of power.

While your at it have a look at the Warranty Problem thread in the 4 stroke forum and when you get your bike back put anti sieze on the tank shroud bolts, may as well anti seize the chain adjuster bolts they seize due to dissimilar metals and can be a right PITA to get out.
What else can i think of to save you trouble, oh yeah loctite will be your best friend as these bikes vibrate a bit, loctite the 4 subframe bolts, exhaust heat shield bolts and rear sprocket bolts, smashed hubs and damaged swing arms can be very expensive to repair.

Hmmm you might want to lock wire the brake caliper clips that secure the pin in place as sticks, stones and various trail trash can dislodge the pins at least if that happens if they are lock wired at least you won't lose them.

Not trying to put you off or make you think your bike is lacking from the factory, if you spend a few hours in the garage with you bike bullet proofing it, it will save you hassles down the track and as an added bonus you will get to know your new bike
 
If you haven't already you might want to invest in some protection for your bike as well.
Things like frame guards, radiator guards, bash plate and bark busters also help to bullet proof your bike and can be worth their weight in gold in saving your bike from crash damage.

I just installed some Enduro Engineering radiator braces on mine. Once I figured out I needed to shim the brace rods with washers it was a pretty easy install. I did not even need to remove the radiators like is required with some braces. I've got an EE bash plate and barkbusters sitting in a box right now waiting to go on. Still trying to figure out what I want my TE310 to be when it grows up. I'm leaning back towards keeping it dual purpose instead of offroad only. Anybody have any experience with installing the Sicass hand guard/turn signals on EE bark busters?

A lot of people get highway dirt bike guards. Mirrors fold in behind the handguard. Zeta also makes handguards with turn signals molded into the guard itself. Sorry though, no experience with what you're doing

All the bike needs is the ECU/Injector upgrade, and a larger rear sprocket and it will rip. On the plus side you get the best brakes, the best clutch, and the best handlebars, all much better components than a Japanese bike would come with stock. And the suspension and handling on these bikes are on par with some of the top MXers right out of the box, way better boingers than 99% of the trail bikes out on the market right now, let alone dual sport bikes. Keep in mind these bikes have won numerous enduro championships. I love mine it has had some growing pains but it absolutely rips.

Turns out the Sicass Racing turn signal handguards are made by Zeta. Steve at Sicass said they would fit my Enduro Engineering bark busters, so I ordered a set. I'll post pics when I get them installed.

Not D, but it is something else. It involves replacing the TE310 ECU and 4-hole injector with the 2012 TXC 310 ECU and 12-hole injector.

Not D, but it is something else. It involves replacing the TE310 ECU and 4-hole injector with the 2012 TXC 310 ECU and 12-hole injector.

up here in Southern Ontario it cost me to get it done at the dealer nearly $550 with labor and tax etc. I think it took him an hour or so. The dealer would probably need to order those parts in too. Not something one would keep in stock unless they knew about this issue and were doing a lot of them. This upgrade makes a huge difference in the power delivery of the bike. the response of the bike when you crack the throttle is way smoother . One thing to note... is the Throttle Stop Position needs to be reset using the ibeat software for this injector/ecu combo to function flawlessly. My bike came powered up and I still wasn't satisfied with the way it performed.. I tried the JD-tuner but didn't make enough of a difference. Many of us have been down this road with our 250's and 310's. and many agree that this is the way to go...

I ordered the parts for the power-up (resistor, air filter cage, and O2 sensor plug) and the TXC ECU and 12-hole injector from Bills Motorcycles Plus in Oregon. If you've already had the power-up done, then the injector and ECU are about $380 together. Not particularly difficult to install, but you do have to remove the tank, and possibly the throttle body, to do the job. I did mine while I had the rear shock out for a spring swap, so I was able to replace the injector without removing the throttle body. If you do it yourself, make sure you get a small can of Kroil and squirt some on both of the fuel rail screws and let it soak in for about an hour before trying to remove them, or you will probably strip out the heads of the screws. They are pretty soft.

I agree 100% with Laura I went the same route I tried the JD it was ok but not great, then a hi-perf injector with the JD it was better but not great. Then I went with the TXC Injector/ECU, and it is like an entirely different machine. Mine would often stall on the track or in really rough terrain for no reason at all it would just die, it was very frustrating to say the least. I think it was so choked up it would just get really hot and die. But after you get them uncorked whoa mama hang on! Fun,Fun,Fun!
