  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

i don´t get it

Lol they will probably be loading a TXC based race map...it should run fine....sounds like it wIll get sorted out.
thanks for your help and i did bring a printout of your post with me and handed to the guy at the counter.lol

Well looks like I am late to the party. Welcome

Also welcome to EFI. :>) Like everyone said, horribly lean from the factory to have the plate. Various cheap to expensive mods to overcome the leanness. Secondly this is a MX inspired very short stoke motor. The crank is on the lighter side. Third the gearing is silly tall, again to pass sound regs for the plate. These shave MX inspired close ratio trans which mean you have to run higher than ideal for 1st gear gearing or it tops out at 50. Add these things and you ahve a recipy for a stallmaster 2000. That sounds bad, it really is not. The fix is well sorted by many here, $200 sounds good, that's solved. The short stroke motor, well all I have to say is get used to the wonder feel of the clutch. Once the motor is singing and the clutch more attitude is applied the potential of this bike is awesome. these bikes handle ridiculous. The mags say the motor is slow, it is not. Brakes, awesome, ergos, awesome. Good luck.

btw, nice avatar pic, mptrays!
thanks but the pic is not me it´s from the photo shoot we did last week for speed and strength with the stunt rider Luke Duke Emmons who i manage. it is my bike for what it's worth. lol

I have a 09te450- the first time I tried a 11te310 I was pissed (jealous) because it did so well in tight trails and pulled from strongly from low rpms to high. I don't think my 450 has a power advantage under 40mph off road. AND YES it handles superbly as advertised or better in those conditions. It never stalled, hesitated, or had an issue. This was with all stock parts, in Power up mode, with some tuning on Ibeat (as set up by dealer).

you should certainly be happy once set up correctly. if not-powered up, as stated and supported above, creates non-responsiveness, and instability, due to being lean, and the ecu stumbling about thinking about what the lambda sensor is sending....

BE careful the first time you ride it- it will be a night and day difference.

Im still wondering why the original dealer never did the power up??? Cuz its the TE model? My dealer wouldnt even let my TXC leave without being powered up and then they handed me the box of parts that were removed. Must be one of those 'sell only' dealers. Either way Im stoked that you found what appears to be a decent dealer. Although 8K for this 'Husky software'? That sounds like there pulling your leg. Im sure its Ibeat their using which runs $300. Anyone else hear of magical Husky software?;) What parts are they talking about? Most likely all the parts that came with your bike when it was shipped. The other dealer just had no idea what to do with them. I get kinda irritated thinking about the whole deal so I cant imagine how you had been feeling. But at least you can put it behind you soon. In the long run $200 for them to fix another dealers faults isnt bad at all. I hope it runs like a raped ape when you get it back!! Keep us posted. And be sure to ride it around before you leave the dealer. Could save another trip if they mess something up.

I have a 2012 te310. It was very jerky and easy to stall at low RPMs until I had the dealer remap with IBEAT for Free. Now it runs fine and cost me $0. No reason to spend money it should be under warranty if it is 6 mos older less.

They offered to remap it stock for free but after all the input i got from the bros on the forum i chose to pay the 200.00 to have it powered up and remapped just to be sure it would run right.

Depending on what they did, that might be the deal of the century. I've got around $80 in a new air filter cage, lambda sensor plug, and resistor, $380 for a TXC ECU and injector, and $295 in iBeat software. That said, I like doing it myself even if it did cost me a bit more. It's my therapy.

Come on up. The neighbor on the right is pretty cool, but if you want to replace the neighbor on the left, I'm ok with that.

Regarding the comparison to other bike made by companies from Japan: In 2005 I bought a Honda CRF230 & a TTR125LE - I can assure you those both needed a bit of help before they would run, not power up, simply run reliably (I've no other experience, so that was just a data point I have).

Regarding the $8k tool: That would be the MOSS tool, and at least a few people from Husqvarna thought that might work in lieu of the iBeat. There is also a 3rd tool for the Keihin efi bikes (not sure of its name), which I don't believe costs a lot. At least a couple of people thought the MOSS tool could replace that functionality - I've no idea what the MOSS can do.
I am not 100% sure but believe the 2012 TE310 came with Mikuni, and the 2013 TE310 came with a Keihin - easy enough to tell if you look at the marketing brochures or the bike itself.

What I am trying to say is that the dealer could be doing all he can given the various tools/issues.

My 2012 TE310 definitely has Mikuni injection. I replaced the ugly mustard yellow injector with a purty hunter green one. ;)

Some dealers are better than others. The one I purchased from in Austin is crap. They did nothing with the bike and the whole transaction was a mess too.

That sucks. Hopefully you have a better dealer near you. Im not a big fan of driving an hour and a half to visit my dealer of choice. But from what distances I see others driving.....I am actually pretty lucky. I really dont like knocking dealers.....but some bring it upon themselves.
