  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

i don´t get it

Have I missed if your bike is p/u? Is there a wire coming out of your exhaust pipe? If so that lambda plug/O2 senson needs to come out, etc... Make sure your bike is p/u, and the warm idle set correctly to the right speed/rpm. In stock form they are so lean to pass emissions, and you will not be happy with it. If your bike does not come with the p/u parts, they are only $40 or so from a Husky deealer.
The bike is stock except for the 47t sprocket and chain. I thought if you had it powered up the warranty was gone but i am going to the dealer today and i will do it if it makes this bike run right. Thanks m

Not asking which dealer your going to (your business) but did you check in the dealer kudos section or do a search for their reputation as Husky lovers ? If they just 'sell' the brand then I think you have armed yourself with enough knowledge to confuse them!

You mean the bike is not powered up? Un-restricted? There is your problem then. They do not run well with the CA smog.

When you visit, ask them to point out all the things they did for de-restricting the bike.

Air Filter cage....restrictive one replaced
O2 sensor and resistor replaced
Catalyst in pipe removed.
Throttle stop removed (if applicable...99% sure mine had one)

See if they will put it on iBeat and reset TPS and show you the CO settings at 1, 2 and 3. They should likely be above 100, like 113, 107, 103. Get idle around 1800-1900. I will say that with the Race ECU/12 hole injector my bike idles close to 2100. I don't mind as it runs great.

Thank you so much I am printing out your post and taking it with me to the shop so they will understand what needs to be done just in case they have no clue. If it is just a matter of powering it up that would be great. i will keep you posted as to what they say. Man I am almost excited about this bike. If it will run right off idle etc.. the rest of the bike is the best I have ever owned brakes, suspension, handling etc.. but I still wish the dealer would have given me a heads up and I could have avoid the aggravation and the broken foot. lol

man i hope you are right. thanks m
For posterity's sake I would like to add, if the Yamaha you were also thinking about is the WR250R, there is a large thread on ADVrider about problems with the 50 state tune on the bike and remedies. The dangerously lean condition these bikes have to run at to meet government guidelines is a problem for most new dual sports.

Yes, your bike in stock setup is your problem. Guaranteed you will not want to give up the 310 after you get it p/u. I rode a 2011 TE 310 that was p/u. That thing was so easy to keep in the meat of the power it was crazy. No stalling issues on that bike for sure. The 310's are awesome. Sorry to hear about your broken foot. Make sure to wear boots.

go back to page 1, post 5, this is the first question I asked .... :D j/k

I live in RI close to the CT border if you ever need to use ibeat. I ride in pachaug.

Ok here is the scoop. First off to all of you who helped me thanks and by the way you guys were right on from the start. I took the bike to Chaplin Kawi, Husky today. I had my trusty printout about the p/u with me thanks to my bro Glangston. Service guy asks whats the problem. I explain the stalling issue to him he smiles and says the husky rep was in this week and they agree the fueling stock is a real problem due to the EPA regs.tada. He says he can have his service guy upload a new map in the stock form or I can have it powered up and new map etc...He says they can get it sorted without powering it up as they bought some Husqvarna computer software that cost them $8000 no charge to me. He then says that in his opinion the best solution was the p/u remap cost with parts $200.00 he claims a definite fix and better performing bike and that Husky planned on this configuration but could not get it into the country and plated set up that way. He also said husky would turn a blind eye to the warranty issue as they are aware it is their problem. I chose the 200.00 p/u based on all you guys have told me. The bike will be ready next week. It has been a long journey but 200.00 now seems reasonable to get this bike sorted. I assume I will get a custom map based on what they said so I guess that is worth it. My only complaint is I wish the dealer who sold me the bike would have disclosed the problem before I bought the bike but if this works i will call it all good minus the broken foot. I will post up the final result after I get the bike back.
peace m

I hope i will be all set now but if you are up for some company to ride pachaug lmk. One of the reasons I got this bike was to get access to Pachaug as the klx I had was too loud etc.. so I never rode it. I have some killer power line stuff we run in Waterford to Montville Ct. that is great about 30 plus miles of run single track etc.. Lmk if you want to run it and we can make a plan.

So I'm just reading through his thread....

WHEN DO YOU GET THE BIKE BACK? WHEN WILL YOUR FOOT BE GOOD-TO-GO?

i get the bike back next week and my foot was ok to ride a week ago. I took the bike out a couple times last week to try and get some more miles on it to see if it would run better. it didn't so it is at the shop now. I made sure not to put myself in any sketchy spots for fear of a stall very boring I might add.

Lol they will probably be loading a TXC based race map...it should run fine....sounds like it wIll get sorted out.

The need to 'power up' the bike is kind of lame, but it's a bullshit legal thing.

You've got a great bike there, just needs some tweaking. Sorry about the broken foot, though... that totally sucks!
