  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

i don´t get it

I am going to the dealer this week I hope. I will call them this am. I will mention the possible fixes you suggested and maybe they can get it done. I really appreciate the time you took to help me out. I know I sound like a baby but I think others should be aware of what to expect when they buy this bike. I hope in the end I will be able to say it was no big deal easy fix you want this bike but right now not so much.
m
Let us now what they say and or do! And by the way......we ALL have a tendency to sound like babies when we are venting, myself included. Its human nature! Lets get this thing fixed so you can enjoy it!

You should be able to get your bike running without a $200 tuner. Is the bike powered up from the dealer? Is your dealer type type that just sells the bikes and has almost zero knowledge of tuning? Not knocking your dealer (or anyone elses) but some have a tendency to have the 'sell it and forget it' mentality where others strive to fix issues that customers are having. I have dealt with both kinds in the past and I make sure that if I put my hard earned cash out there it will definitely be at a dealer that loves and has knowledge of the brand. A lot of us drive further distances and spend more money to go to a solid well respected Husky dealer. Your probably right that any issues will have to be paid for out of your pocket (and that blows) but the dealer should at least figure out whats wrong for free or a reduced rate. For cryin out loud your bike only has 200 miles on it. I am assuming that your bike has no warranty left? Do the TE bikes come with a warranty? From the symptoms it sounds like a faulty part of the electrical system. Could be a bad sensor or loose / chaffing wire. I removed every electrical connector on my TXC and put dialectic grease on it. If you dont want to put any money out yet I would try doing the free things like checking wiring and connections. Make sure ALL electrical points have solid connections. These bikes wont kick start without battery voltage (very silly) so I am assuming that if you had a slightly loose battery connection, it would cause the bike to stall at any given time, and then start right back up again. When problems are intermittent like yours it makes things more difficult. If the dealer is going to charge you just to look at the bike, then I would do a little trouble shooting first. Are you comfortable using a volt / ohm meter? They can be very useful when checking electrical issues. Start with checking / greasing (use the proper grease!;) ) all electrical connections. Hope you get it figured out bro! You will absolutely LOVE the bike when its running right! I have Ibeat if you want to use it. What part of CT are you in?
Dude that was a great response thanks for the heads up. I am on the other side of the state RI border. I am going to the dealer I will post the result and thanks for the offer and fyi there are some great hare scramble enduro's out your way check out New England Trail Riders Assoc. (NETRA)and see if you are up for it. thanks m

The stalling is random sometimes i am going 15 to 20 mph hit the gas and it stalls no bog just dies. It also stalls when i am downshifting not all the time random which makes it impossible to overcome cause i have no idea when it will do it. The starter struggles to refire sometimes but after a couple of attempts it will catch. I will take it to the dealer and see what they say and i will post the answer they give. If you have any ideas lmk and thanks for the encouragement cause i am bummed right now . M

I have not seen any mention of gearing yet but I got my TE449 to stop a lot of the stalling by changing my countershaft sprocket. $30.
Also run a ground wire from the - on the battery to the subframe then the fuel injector. These 2 things cured a lot of problems for me.

i changed the rear to a 47t it works great. I am not sure about the ground thing I will see what the dealer says before I do anything. thanks for the heads up.

200 miles is not much. Heat affects how they run. They run cooler when rich and broken in....after power up. Run better with new exhaust.

IBeat is pretty simple to use but cannot change the advance curve, only fuel % and only at 3 throttle levels. TPS, throttle position sensor, is the base line for the ECU advance curve to mesh with the fuel demand. If it is set properly things work better. My iBeat works on an old Dell/Windows my SIL gave me. That's another problem, having the right OS to run it so I hesitate offering to loan it as it's useless otherwise.

Changing from the 40 rear to 45' 47, 50 etc let's the bike get off the line with less resistance and seems to overcome some of the stumble.

I'll repeat what others have tried to explain to you. These bikes come very lean out of the box because they're plated and have to pass
emissions etc... Most people who buy one know this going in and are willing to do whatever needs to be done to get it dialed in whether it's
a JD Tuner, Power Commander or whatever because they know that once it's dialed in they've got a bad ass high performance dirt bike that can
also be ridden on road. To say the Husky is not on par with other makes is kind of silly. Name one Jap made street legal dirt bike that even comes
close to your TE310 in quality and off road ability.
I don't mean to be surly, but I'm not sure that "most people who buy one know this going in and are willing to do whatever needs to be done to get it dialed in". How would most know this? Some of us read a few reviews, go to a shop and buy a bike.

This is true. Definitely are some people who would walk into a Husky dealer and buy a bike without knowing what some of the hurdles of owning one can be (not accusing anyone of this). Then there is us......the guys whose brains are hard wired to Coffees server! :D

Lots of guys have jumped in to give you answers - I would suggest you read threads like Robertacio's in the general section - in full. BestDualSportsBikes.com in Phx, Az has a kit that makes your 310 run like a champ.

And I would love to see all Supercross racers race "stock" bikes - with a $10k claiming rule. But I guarantee that Short is not racing a showroom stock bike.

George used to get Huskies ready for magazine shoot outs. He offered to buy a "stock" bike for MSRP from the KTM or Honda guy once and they refused.

i was only repeating what the announcers said that he bought it from a dealer in that city that week and raced it, he had no mechanic but his dad and himself so it was pretty close to stock i think but I don't know for sure. The point I was trying to make was I expected the te310 to be ready to ride out the door as all the other bikes I have bought new were. Thanks for the thread link I am taking the bike to the shop tomorrow so i am waiting to see what they say before i do anything. Thanks for your help and the idea of seeing the pros race stock bikes would be great and i think the comp. would be even better and we would get better bikes as well. peace m

i don't take any offense for what you are saying as I stated bad on me for not doing more research on this bike. I figured by the reviews etc.. it would be the same as buying a Japanese dirt bike as they are all i have owned starting with a Hodaka super rat back in the day. man i am old. lol

I have to tell you the funniest part of my Husqvarna saga. I manage the pro stunt rider Luke Duke Emmons he took 2nd in this years XDL and he is sponsored by speed and strength. They wanted him to do a photo shoot with a different bike from his stunt bike which is a modded kawi 636. if you google him you will see his bike. Anyway we got them to agree to use the te310 for the photo shoot. so the bike that is making me nuts is going to be the bike used in the ad if they like the pic's now that is funny. i am uploading a few of the pic see what you thinkDSC_0578.JPGView attachment 23015View attachment 23015DSC_0707.JPGDSC_0707.JPGDSC_0707.JPGView attachment 23015View attachment 23015DSC_0727.JPG

it.s an abandon nut house on long island sound. we were supposed to shoot inside but it was locked up tight so we made do.

You got a Lemon law in CT? Sorry to hear you experience has not been great. I love my 2012 TE310, its ripped since day one! I love it move every time I ride it.

Have I missed if your bike is p/u? Is there a wire coming out of your exhaust pipe? If so that lambda plug/O2 senson needs to come out, etc... Make sure your bike is p/u, and the warm idle set correctly to the right speed/rpm. In stock form they are so lean to pass emissions, and you will not be happy with it. If your bike does not come with the p/u parts, they are only $40 or so from a Husky deealer.
