• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky Sale in KY

Just heard if your out of state these are out the door prices.... crazy guys no set up and no delivery a FC350 for 6600 unheard of

I was in the local husky dealer right before Christmas and pretty much everything was 2k off...the kids almost didn't have a Christmas lol

i'm real close to a 125/450 lol
I was sitting there like, if i buy a 300 its like getting a 125 for 2500 lol. My wife didn't look at it the same way though :)

Crazy enough, he has a hard time selling 2 strokes, guess there aren't a ton of jarvis fans here

Well I had a 300 which my brother now has and at the end of an enduro I feel like its driving me around.... I like a 450 but not all the time and they overheat.... I like a 125 a lot but sometimes they arent the best bike... lol

I guess this is why Husky sales numbers are up, they are either dumping bikes, or the dealers are having to eat them. Either way, neither can stay in business selling below cost.

We all know how OEM's operate.... once the dealer has them, they aren't a great concern to the OEM anymore. Once the dealer and the finance company owns them, they are considered sold. BMW was no better than KTM.

Does Beta still airfreight all their bikes over to the US? Someone had to absorb that cost and that would seem no more sustainable, than other things.......

For a dealer to get the "prime" bikes they have to order packages which include a lot of the "sub prime" bikes.... KTM and ALL the Jap brands do it.... and yes that means the dealer is going to have to "unload" some of those bikes when the new ones start coming out.... thats how the industry works and probably how it always will.... Thats one way KTM can keep making 37 different models.... plus this will get guys on a new bike that might only normally buy a year old used bike and then you hopefully get them as a customer, then its win win

I was at a KTM dealer in Colorado in 2008 and the poor guy had so many unsold bikes that you literally could not walk through the show room until they wheeled about 25 bikes outside. He was selling them cheap ($5,800 for a 300xcw) and said Ktm was trying to send him 25 more bikes that he would have had to put in a storage building since there wasn't room for a bicycle in his dealership.

That's why I bought a husky the end of 2009 , was looking at other bikes , and I got a 2008 te450 for 5200 out the door , and first service with valve adjustment included .

I think some bikes still get airfreighted depending on the situation, but I believe most come by boat. We pay $359 freight per bike regardless.

But Beta is still order what you want? correct water racer? You dont "have" to order a a fast mover say a 300rr race you dont have to order 3 slow movers correct?

I hate that model but thats how KTM and Husky (and Jap brands) has done it forever.... I would rather you make a lot less of whatever that slow mover is and make more of whats selling.... there was nothing worse than being stuck with an oddball bike that 15 people in the country wanted.... When I got those in it was all out war getting them sold before flooring kicked in, first one thru the door that showed interest in it was going home with it regardless of what it cost me.... lol Just hoped I could sell them some handguards and a skid plate to ease the pain for me

I'm still kicking around the AJP dealership... although I know they will be a hard sale...

Beta USA is great to work with, they do everything they can to make it easier for dealers and to make sure Beta customers are happy with their purchase.

The Husqvarna rep came to visit recently and we were told that they would tell us how many bikes we had to take and could only order at the beginning of the model year. If we had to take 20 bikes, sold 15 for a profit, sold the remaining 5 at a loss, we would not break even. This is a tough business unless you are well established mega dealer, but it is my passion and I enjoy it, and my wife seems to also.

Not much interest in the AJP's right now, but they are great bikes and I think they will catch on in a few years as people get more familiar with them.

I really like the AJP but doubt it would be a weekly ride....

I would say 20 bikes a year would be a tough sale....

My local Husky/Beta dealer told me the big difference is Husky will floor him so he had the entire line, Beta makes him pay for each bike so it's harder to show what's available to his customers

Yes Husky has flooring ad Beta doesnt....

there are 2 ways to look at it, Yes flooring lets you have more to show potential customers but the dealer does own them hes just financing them, so if he doesnt sell them after 6 months hes paying $50+ a month to show you what you could possibly buy.... or Beta's way of have a couple on the floor of fast movers like a 300 and a 350 and explain to the customer you can order them exaactly what they want.... I prefer the 2nd model because your not making a bunch of margin on these bikes so when you start paying the charges its game over and unload quick at any price....

This is why the flooring dealers will make deals on older bikes and even lose money so not to pay interest. It's also related to why Beta was sold out of 300 and 250 two strokes early in the first two years. My local Yamaha dealer has sold several two strokes to 1 or 2 four strokes but they still must have to stock the four strokes. I bought a leftover 2011 YZ450 for $5,100 the owner was determined to get it off the floor before the end of the year.

yes... same reasoning for this sale.... When I was a husky and KTM dealer I sold some bikes to the first guy that looked interested.... I didnt want old bikes costing me money on the floor... plus to me it made the bikes at least look more desireable by not having them sit there for a year... lol
