• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky Monument Ride

No no thats a different big Joshua tree. They are about 40 miles apart.

This big Joshua tree is sort of 'behind' 4 corners, just a minute or two from the intersection. Makes it 30-40 minutes closer for guys driving up that morning. Plus its a longer ride, and away from some of the more 'busy' riding areas.

George says its some good riding up that way, ive never gone in from 4 Corners to the Monument. But that entire area of desert has litterally endless trail riding in all directions.

But yeah--that was funny. :)

NEW STAGING AREA:

We will stage out of Four Corners (where Hwy 40 meets Hwy 395) at 9AM. Sunday the 24th of May. Memorial Day Weekend.

We will follow George Erl in our trucks for a mile or so to a spot at a big joshua tree and then ride from there.

Meet at 9am at the gas station on the right as ya pull to the stop light at 4 corners (theres just one intersection).

We will ride 40 miles each way to the monument, then back another route. 80 miles round trip. Carry a gallon if ya cant do 80 round trip.

No visit to Randsburg that weekend. Ive been told is just too busy with bikes and a mad house.

Lunch around 1-2 in the afternoon back at Four Corners.

I expect 7-8 Husky riders, but room for more. We can do hard or easy sections, or split it into 2 small groups--just like in Baja.

Any and all Husky riders are warmly invited!

This should be a fun ride, and i am loooking forward to learning some of Georges trails. :)

I'm planning on being there.... maybe riding up with Robertaccio if he calls me back and commits ..... I'm riding a TC450 with moto X gears and moto X tank packing one gallon of gas with me........ I don't want to run at 9000 RPM for 40 miles straight :eek::eek::eek: and I don't wanna run outa gas****************************************!!

by the way Mike.... the French Crepe Bistro was great yesterday at San Clemente Pier...... boogie boarding all afternoon on Capistrano Beach and ended the day at Sonny's Pizza and Pasta on El Camino.... amazing thin crust ......pizza ......washed down with a Negro Modelo********************************************************************************

Rode Wildomar OHV area today with my kids.... not a soul in site...

Do I really have to go back to work on Tuesday?

Mike,

I'm in and bring the girlfriend along. My dad would be joining us on his DRZ, but him and my mom will be in Minneapolis for a wedding that weekend. Looking forward to seeing all you guys again.

Too bad you won't be there... I plan to lay my og. bottle of Elvis cologne to rest at the site. It will be the Kings last tour!!! Been with me since the 80's!!! It'll be dramatic and emotional but I'll tough it out, feather dust my bike and ride off into the sunset...............

A tribute fit for a king!

Be careful whose bike you feather dust! That is a powerful piece of equipment! :D

Yes sir.... I'm maintaining a very very low profile when it comes to the feather duster........ nuff said........

PS I wonder what would happen if I dusted the Monument bike???????? Uh, Uh, no, no, I don't want to go there now that I think about it

Looks like a nice group. I counted 9 Huskys, with a couple of fence sitters.

The core group, and a couple of special appearences too.

I'm one of the fence sitters. If I can get a break in the action at work I'll shoot up for Sunday but I seriously doubt that I can make a camping trip out it.:banghead: makes me sad because the group that makes this ride are some of my favorite people to hang with.

Hey, because this is happening in CA. Do we get to bring our family (non Husky) riders? Just asking, I think it would be a fun ride for the kids. No, I don't expect "Baby Siters" They are 20 and 13, and I will be with them.
