  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

How it could take me sooo long to find husqvarna, stupid me...

Bloody Melbourne!! Its stories like this that makes me wish we were more laid back with our gun policies lol. With the tracker I was looking into it however a few issues. 1. Not many places to put it that can be hidden on the bike 2. these days they are using GPS jammers when pinching the bikes and they take it and look over it rip it out the tracker so you no idea where its gone. The only benefit is insurance will be cheaper. Also maybe data dots could be a good idea???

Will let you know about the MAP 3.

Also how is your dealer Moto GC? I got mine from A1 motorcycles and have had nothing but trouble with them and looking for a new one for servicing and warranty work.[/quotI'll have to look into data dots?? It's funny cos technology is lacking here in regards to gps locators ( knew it'd b near impossible ). As for police, it's funny the bike l lost was half d value of my smr, I locked it in the front doors of melbournes GPO, even funnier I was serving our community on jury duty, we were on a break, I went to pay bills, the cc footage has me sighted all the way thru cbd, even has them behind me at door watchin me chain it an go bak to re check, they have their faces clear as day and the police know one of them and no ones been charged yet. I've never nor would I ever understand thieves, it's a lot of work, it's so unfair and more than that it's dangerous because had l caught them the cops probably would of had to shoot me ( and that would of been the extent of them excercisong lighter gun laws, haha.. I like tO think I'm over it, that my mighty smr has recovered me but who am I kidding, I'm still venting, sigh..
MOTOGC have been good but so far all I've done is make payments, I bought from the owner and so far he has answered all my questions, been there for me and even though I told him he has the wierdest sense of humor, he is straight ( I hope ). I know it sounds silly but my fingers are crossed l sail thru the 12 month warranty period without a hitch. I'd prefer a problem to b mine, see it's like the police or insurance, involving a third party who doesn't love it like me only brings me worry so here's to a fault free bike..
A1, you have the benefit of long trade, MOTOGC is only new but they seem very experienced, they have every husky available and more than that for me I had no choice in the matter, I waited an waited till no dealer oz wide had a black one, they had 2 to choose from. It goes in next week for pipe fitting and I'll nail out the first service then too, I'll know more after, they won't make me feel good for it but I will wait for it there, there's a huge glass window so my baby won't b out of my sight, I don't really have a choice I have to wait there.
I'll b sure to let u know ok also Iam hoping that they might just might b able to give map 3 from there workshop, they have like I said every husky so I'm thinking they should have a well stocked workshop, also they are going to continue to buy and sell huskies, see I'm aware a lot of places won't now they've been sold, they told me about the new 620smr to come out next year?? Never looked into it but if it's as hot as d KTM then I might trade up to it if I acquire the right skills.
Hey what warranty claim are you having to deal with, when I bought it I enquirer about say if I move to QLD will a dealer help me with if I need to claim, the answer was no but not impossible, my advice would b call them, ask for Glenn ( owner ) tell him your woes if you have some, sometimes it pay..
Went out again last night, can't describe the joys of this bike, I'm just under 1000 kms now, I swear every km is so much fun, am quickly finding this bikes rythm, not to a forgetful stage though. I love this bike cos it needs 100% of my attention so I'm riding better but still alert an on d ball.. I can't understand why our markets not flooded with super motards, there a joy to ride, soon mine wit me on it will b uncatchable/stoppable, it draws more attention than a Harley from all types of people, seems they r a hot item for thieves ( at least they have good taste ) and they are so tricky ie; they get around as easy as my STOLEN mountain bike, it beats me why I've seen more dr's than say aprillas or ktm's in d past, I know o/s there hot items but not here, this makes owning one a little more difficult..
Cheers mate, Thanx for yr posts, will let you know how I go next week with them touching my bike, lol.

A1 may have long trade however still have no idea about huskies. I took it in cause it was leaking radiator fluid from the overflow pipe. Took it in and they were like its seems ok topped upped the radiator fluid and said if it still playing up next week come in. So next week still playing up I took it back and after properly checking I had a leaking gasket :banghead:. They told me that they were pretty busy at the moment so I explained to them that its my main mod of transport so if you cant fix it in a reasonable time Ill take it to another dealer. They assured me it would be done in 2 weeks. 6 weeks later it was still not fixed they kept on bull shitting me about parts etc so I called the part distributor direct and they would be like I don't know what your on about we have the parts in stock and can be delivered overnight. They then gave some lame excuse saying that the valve clearance is off by a ridiculous amount and that believe the bike was built that way (bullshit). Email the distributor and they believe they have lost a part for the valves and they ordered parts for the valves. After 9 weeks I finally got it back and they lost parts to my radiator guards on there and it took them 5 weeks to replace the missing parts after numerous emails and phone calls to them.

Feels good to vent that as they really messed me around.

I spoke to the distributor and they said as long as it is a authorized dealer (check the husky website) any of them can do warranty work etc. I asked them as I believe my valve clearance still isn't right. The service manager even admitted to me that if the valve clearance is off a bit they normally don't bother to get it right****************************************!! Everyone is saying that with the new exhaust and RACE MAP 2 it can do power wheelies in the first 3 gears which I am not getting. If I had all the tools needed to service the bike I wouldn't even take it to bike shop for servicing as I don't trust any of them to treat the bike with the TLC I give it (apart from Zip Ty Racing but they are in USA:cry:) .

Dude that's a nightmare, as if the things we were writing were not scary enough. This is why I'm on husky cafe, I've never been on any site but as husky riders we do stand alone. I went once to A1, test rode a laverada, wasn't ovely impressed then tried a ducat from round d corner, same thing, must b that neck o d woods, lol.
Seriously l do feel for you, the radiator would of had me so worried that l would o tackled it alone, it's needed dude to cool the engine, stop it twisting warping and going bang but the valves is another situation all together. My goal after 12 months is to do it ALL myself, a stamped log book has always been important to me but this husky is different, u could say one is unique ( I know big call ) but even things like oil fills, I'd like an exact figure so l can measure it an b sure but they all over flow, they take it, look empty then have too much, my main concern when l first posed the question about exhaust is because of that exact same thing u wrote and that is I'm trying to avoid the bs, the bs about performance, parts, accepting certain anomalies, leaks or even availability on stocked or non stocked parts.. My advice dude abdcit seems yr living it already is not trust a thing. See l did all my changes so far 1st one at 50km then so forth till 500 then ran synthetic till now, I asked them bout an oily airbox ( I erred on the side of too much better than too little ). The boss didn't know ( obviously never owned a husky ) but the guy behind the parts desk , lee. His mate had one, he knows them very well. I quoted the code b4 start up on my dash ( I believed e was error ) they didn't know, it's the computer identifying the model.. Things like that also the day my bike got STOLEN I went to Peter Stevens and asked bout prices for my pipe, just to check, stocked item one in Victoria, when I ordered mine I expected one two days, i was told it's gonna take weeks to come from Italy.. That's why I'm searching for how many Akro pipes there are available for this bike their codes and so forth because I truly have a trust issue, essentially we r woodducks, we buy a rare bike ( in these neck o d woods ) and we r in their mercy, in terms of advice, price and most important with our machines..
Now as for my bike, it stands in fourth gear easy, I mean easy, the right road with the right angle or dip with the right rpm and right yank, the thing can an will lift in fifth but it's power is not enough to keep it there but fourth gear no worries. It's so nice to ride so in tune that I'm already easily lifting the rear wheel under brakes, damn fine way to stop.
Things I've done, several oil changes( loved em all ) now I promised her that I'll never let her run on dirty oil.
Bent my mirrors so they sit just above my wrists.
Filed some of the lock nuts cos there just not tender to the plastics, they r now.
Moved gear lever, it needs the downward angle.
All my levers, my handlebars, played with steering angle.
Measured rear spring and will eventually tighten a little.
Bled front forks for the he'll of it.removed horn, not that it's not safer or more legal but I figure the Akro is kind of a substitue horn.
Shortened my license plate holder.
Shortened my indicators..
Put my numbers on and changed filters a few times..
I ran the bike in to spec or so I think, I felt like a race bike engineer too!! Soo much fun.
I've spent years accumulating the tools I need to do such things.
Dude I wish u all d luck with A1, I feel for u but glad yr not me. Anything I can help with just ask, in terms of moto gc, I believe we r on good terms, I make them laugh and give them money, lol.
Not only that, I've only ever known map2 ok but to taje off say against a liter is hard cos thes bikes dig deep to find traction right, call it coaxial traction if u will, lol but they just mono, if throttle isn't screwed so hard, left later thru d gears ( which is needed now cos d other bike pulls away ) then from 3rd to fourth u can bake d change in d air and it stays up better than just screwing it back in fourth.. Good to see I'm learning already..I'm going to take landofmotards advice and I believe these bikes here in oz are a different breed from their European counterparts thereforexwe r probably lucky to get 2.. MOTOGC are getting a dyno, if they do and they can manage 3 with their eq. Then I'll continue with them to build a very fast bike.. Till then I'm under the impression I have the fastest already.. Gotta love a husky smr, their very lovable. Cheers bud, yr nearly through the storm..

Actually can't remember if it was them or bikes plus that r waiting on their dyno??
Hey is yrs red or black?
How many clicks u done?
What mods u done?

It's red but considering buying black plastics as it looks much nicer in black :).
So far done 3,500 Km's done 4 oil changes so far.
Mods so far:
Bark busters - however need new ones after last theft attempt when they kicked the bike over and they have bent them
Axel armor
Force radiator guards
Arrow titanium slip on exhaust with carbon cap
TC air box
JD Tuner
Zip Ty Breather Vent mod
Also in the post have Zip Ty Breather bottle so I can fill her with the right amount of oil and not get a tone of it in my air box will be going mobil1 oil when I do this mod.

Do to:
New mirrors there are a few carbon ones that I like
Get MAP 3 and possibly ditch the JD tuner then
Lower back brake lever - need a grinder to do this as need to shorten bolt
Work on suspension - have done all I can with race sag etc however might have to get it to a shop to get it spot on as at the moment it very jittery over any bumps (tram tracks)
Thinking on going 40t rear sprocket

Wish list:
Carbon header pipe protector
New rims (tubless) with a wider rear tyre
Some bling parts

Have you got photos of your shortened plate holder and indicators?? I want to them aswell however want to do one where I am not going to get hassled by cops as the mods I have seen on cafe husky the cops here will pull us up on.

Hey bud
Wow wat a few days I've had, called 000 been dealing with them last few days.. Lol WE HAVE to stop talking bout the thieves, someone seems to of targeted my place but I was lucky. Bikes fine.there all dropkicks.
I nearly bought a red one , burners still had one, i like them.
Dude my heart really goes out to you, an attempted theft and damage on yr bike cos of rats, this would of hurt me.
You've made heaps of good mods, I'm stupidly waiting for the pipe b4 I do anything but I will fit the air box this weekend, MOTOGC have them there.. Did it make an noticeable difference to your bike?? And I like the sound of radiator guards, I want to b all guards including crash knobs but think different plastics as spares is worth d money, little money pits aren't they? Put a lot in get fun out..
I have taken hundreds of photos from my phone ( same way I write these ) but I can't get them to post. The way I shortened my indicators was for the front I cut into the plastic headlight plastic the same size as indicator so now instead of bolting them attached to outside now the base of indicator is now on the insideof the headlight plastic, I'll try hard to get a photo on my profile here, I'd love to c it on my pages..
Hey how many other blokes ( not racers ) own these bikes that u know of? Lots ?
Crossing tram tracks I raise the front wheel so I've never felt shim over them but that said these bikes do shim bad I've been on mine and been a passenger while it has it's little spasm, it happens to me worst when I am over 80 odd km and jump large speed humps, its because as it lands ( on it's skinny skinny tyres ) under power it kind of shakes on landing, I hold tight but it's more power that straightens it up, also , road surface, if the bikes off camber ( leaning) and coming out under power if the road is rippled if there's a deformation or hole in the tar the bike shakes like a superbike, I really love it. But to me I thought this was due to lack of a steering damper, I'm planning on broaching this with my dealers and if to them fitting a damper would help this then I will fit one asap until then ALL those giant electrical cables surrounding my head stem and griping it anaconda like will have to act as my damper, lol they are tight.
I can't talk about the tuner and stuff like that cos I'm still getting my head round maps but I want to know more.
I like the acerbes hand guards, the bark buster EVO are nice but for $130 the acerebis ones to me r cooler.
Oh my number plate holder, when I picked my beast up, they gave me two, a tiny aftermarket one fitted ( not sure why I wasn't expecting it ) and the original they handed me. So I worked with the spare, cut around it to the shape on my plate ( also shaped the plate by hand and file to fit snug under LED.
In bout a week after first coupon service I'm tackle the kinglake ride, I'll go up have brunch then ride it home, I'll let u know wat weekend I'll do it and maybe if yr interested we could meet there, I'm not inviting u to eat with me though I do that alone, lol but yr most welcome to come along. I'll keep u posted. Take care dude.

Couldn't notice the airbox mod as I did race map plug, exhaust and airbox lid mod all in one go, but a lot of people suggest it and it makes sense the mod.

I have only seen one other SMR husky in Melbourne. Seen lots of DRZ's but no SMR's.

I have done the kinglake ride as a mate has a farm in Yea that I go to a fair bit. Personally wouldn't do it again until I get a 40t sprocket and the oil circulation mod just due to the the bike revs a bit to high for my liking. Also the road is in pretty bad condition at the moment and my skill level isn't that great however I ride thinking it is. And if i tagged along with you who seems like they know how to trash a bike around I would try and keep and most likely kill myself lol. Recommend you plan the trip regarding petrol as I ran out once hahaha, luckily my mate was following me in his ute and we just chucked in the back. Id love to get my bike on the go kart track next to the west gate bridge looks like a great little track.

Hey bud,
Ta for heads up about d road condition, thought it'd b like that, I tested a 1098 Ducati from A1 on d road, it was an S so it had traction control but d road was old..
D go kart track does look good, Sth Marong have a tiny one which would b easier to get on, if u manage it please let me know I'd like that. Been looking at Broadford too, they have regular open days, but I'll tow her up..
Dude I haven't owned a motorbike of any kind since my twenties ( I'm an old man ).. I learnt to ride hard as a kid and I guess it stick with me, I'd wanted a bike for ever but life got in d way, I have no right owning this beast. I have a world of things to learn to do on this bike, nearly twenty years of advancement in technology and skills to now learn. Mapping?? Drifting on tar?? It's awesome..
I wish I'd known these bikes draw a lot of attention,, I thought it was going to sneak by unnoticed, all I can think is there cheap people, there fitted out well so buy one pleas stop looking at mine..
Gotta try get a photo of my mods, the indicators look mean, they'll never picked on by police either I think, they do the job right, there's still a left and a right, I tucked the back ones right beside stop light. Assuming LED have same bracket then when I upgrade they'll fit perfect..
I been thinking bout radiator gaurds, I looked at all d ones online, there not cheap so I spent d last few days making one after work.. I made them from a price of geodes stainless, dude either I'm spending way too much time alone with this bike and slipping into delusion because ,, to me,, they look cool, I've only finished the left side which is fitted, and the two sides different being one black one polished stainless the contrasts cool, won't get a chance till weekend to finish d other, I guess soon when I do first service as soon as pipe arrives then the reaction from d boys will let me know if it needs to b taken off or not,, lol. But it's not much different than the pics I seen, one of a kind, bullet proof and way more bling than aluminum..pipe should b here soon, can't ride it, got 990 km so I need booked service stamped..spewin..I'm sure you've underestimated the way u ride, u probably know things I'll learn D hard way.
I'll try soon to get these photos up ok,
Oh I bought ( my brother got me ) some gifts from motorsports ??? In d U.S , and hey ordered d JD Tuner, I won't fit it, I'll enjoy d Akro with or without map 3 for a spell till I'm motivated to get more. He is a top bloke, he ordered all anodized nuts an bolts for it as well, should look good, there red I think..
D oil recirc. thing reads well, to me it makes a lot of sense, and after service I will fit airbox myself..
Dude thanks for letting me share all my rot wit u, hope all is well..
Anytime would welcome d company, peace dude...

Some of what you type is unnecessarily difficult to understand. Any chance on just typing things out instead of using a mixture of English and text speak?
