  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Highest Mileage TE/SMR 449 or 511

Your knobbies must be made of titanium, dude! :)

I get 5 or so 50 - 100 km rides out of a Pirelli MX Extra rear.
If tyres arent wearing they aren't gripping.

On my 511 the stock back tire did 300 miles. Thats it!

Lots of sliding and burnouts on the cold damp winter roads...

Plated????

I decided to rebuild my 511's top-half of the engine (valves, piston, timing chain) after 15 000 km (9 320 miles). Not going to touch lower-half (crankshaft bearings, piston rod) for now.

6200km on my 2011 TE449. I would say about 80% has been on road.. probably more. I bought the bike off a guy who had it new and it was at 3000km, he had taken it offroad once. This was evident from the brand new appearance the bike had.. no scratches on frame guards or anything. It was mint. I put the power up plug in and have since added another 3000 of my own km. I would say about 500 of these kms have been some light trail riding and just been out bush exploring. Found a couple of mx tracks to take her on as well. I mostly use it as my daily to and from work, heading out to the tracks on weekends.

The bike never flames out, doesn't overheat, starts first go hot or cold and will loft the front wheel in 4th gear with ease. I must say I'm pretty confident I will be enjoying many more thousand km's with this wonderful machine.

Planning on getting a set of SM wheels / brakes for it

So any new mileage record holders? This has been done for two years now. Figured I put this up to see where people are now. Happy New Years!

With 14,000 on your engine, I think it would be safe to assume that your bore will be worn outside of standard measurements.
The different sized pistons were to allow for very slight differences in original machining at the factory.
I believe you should be able to use the latest of the pistons in your list on account of the wear of usage.
Carry out measurements prior to assembly to be sure.
