  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Highest Mileage TE/SMR 449 or 511

~6500 kms (aus) as a weekday commuter and weekend dirt weapon. =)
45 tooth on the rear, EJK tuner and i couldn't ask for a better do-everything-go-everywhere bike

Me, I´d be interested in the number of oil & filter changes over a longer period of time. Soudojack ... was that really 8.5 miles per change?????

yup, just passed 10k on mine (45t sumo + dirt wheels). no valve adjustments 100% compression. these things seem to be rock solid as long as you feed them fresh oil =)

Just cracked 23000km, 2011 TE511, bought new Feb 2013. 47 tooth rear, just tyres, oil (Penrite HPR5) & filters, sprockets & chain. All good, no problems. :)

Wow! Motor still sealed up - ie not even a top end?

If so, that is VERY encouraging.

My TE449 has about 75hrs and 1000Ks (not miles) In Oz we get the full power motor, and I have been getting a little concerned as the manual says to replace the piston and crank at 80 hrs. It still goes like new, but blows a puff of smoke when you crack the throttle and the oil has a slight coppery tinge when I change it, the oil comes out pretty clean still, but I do have to clean a bit of crap off the sump plug magnet. I had a CRF250X for my son for a while and could only get about 40hrs out of a piston in that thing, so maybe I am being overly concerned.

'11 TE449 - 117 hrs, 3300km
95% hard forest riding/MX tracks - 5% road.
Uses no oil (Castrol power1 synthetic every 5hrs)
Valve clearances checked only, no adjustments needed.
Sweet :)

1100 miles of supermoto fun! lots of easy oil changes with my zip ty goodies.

have not touched my ducati hypermotard in months!

Today my bike enjoyed some upgrades thanks to ZipTy Racing. Crazy magnetic oil filter plug, SS filter, Valve cover breather (case capped off), FMF powerbomb and muffler (fit very nice but kinda loud), Axle pull handle. Hooo hooooo. To install the valve cover breather you have to remove and drill the cover. Happy to report the head looked like new inside, cams have zero wear, cam chain and sprockets look new / feel tight. Everything looked new. The head castings and parts are very nicely finished. 5500 plus miles. Keep on riding. oh... finally needs front wheel bearings.

Wow, that's great. Maybe after I get mine fixed it'll last longer. Probably works better with oil in it anyway.

I've had to impact the stock one off before

My stock one was OK. The hard parts one better, never really had an issue. This one is the nicest, I like how it is bulky in a good way so you can screw it on with your hand, the four strong ass magnets will eat metal which is good for bearings, and it looks cool.
