  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I don't see these on the Motosportz site.. do they still carry them? what's the advantage? guessing more water moving through the system?

We do Email us if you want one. We don't enough quantity to add them tot he web site. Thanks.

As I understand it the hard parts WP is the same as the upgrade in the 2010...
I'm in the UK but any good dealer should have Samco hoses or similar. Kawasaki sell an uprated cap 1.4 or 1.8bar and grab some water wetter to. I dont use a catch bottle on my TE510.

The hard part impeller pictured above looks nothing like the supposedly high flow impeller on my 2010 TE 510.

My blades are flat while this one has nicely curved impellers.

If the water pump housing / impeller is taller - it still represents a "more powerful water pump".

The camshaft runs at 1/2 crank rpm - the median operating rpm of the pump does not make a curved vane impeller a necessity.

They are neat to look at though - probably will sell a pile on that fact alone.

I got mine- (thanks!!! MOTOSPORTZ  )they are neat to look at while assembling- big difference in size and design. Its super easy so no need for a how to or pictures since they already exist.

I had heard reports of them resulting in 5-8 degree decreases somewhere- I don't know if I will notice or not- I haven't had any real cooling issues to solve. Just seemed like a good upgrade for $40. Plus now I have a spare for what its worth, and its a good excuse to locktite (I used blue medium grade) that bolt that holds the impeller in place- and give the system a good flush.

I use a mix of Maxima Coolaid and Prestone Auto coolant (sylicate free type) I keep coolant just below the "Min" fill line on the resevoir (yes there is one- least on mine, but I've never seen it mentioned- only people saying to do it to the ones not doing it)

Ever since I put the 300 kit on my TXC 250, my engine has been running much hotter. Kelly sent me the Hi-Flow water pump and it is noticeably cooler. The difference in the propeller/blades is huge. It's a cheap form of insurance along with the higher pressure Kawi radiator cap and Evans NPG-R radiator fluid.

I switched to Evans as well and notice it rarely builds up pressure, any really, you can remove the cap when hot.

I had a cooling issue on my TXC 450 - saw 260 degrees on my vector. I switched out my impeller for this high flow one and switched to Evans coolant at the same time. I also added the fan from the TE with a manual switch that I turn on when warning light on the Vector tells me I'm over 190 degrees. I don't pass the 190 mark anymore unless I am going hard in tight sections, and turning on the fan will usually drop the temperature back down to a comfy 170 F temperature within a couple minutes. If you don't have a problem, ride on. If your bike gets hot, get one of these as fast as Kelly can ship it to you...

Went riding with 2 Yamahas and 5 KTM's a couple weekends ago. My Husky was one of three bikes that DIDN'T have any mechanical issues that weekend. Last spring, it seemed like my bike was the only one breaking down. It is soooo much better this way.

Is this an upgrade for the older models 05-07? Looking for some ways to keep my engine cooler.. Im going to be road racing it and want to do as much as I can to help avoid high temps
