  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hawaiian Husky

Just drove downtown Paia and saw a new te449 parking. That you?

Ah, there where several guys riding along the sugar Cain field on north side. Looks like a killer place to ride. The waves on the north end are crazy high right now. I love that road that goes out past vineyard to Hana on back side. Talk about a road riders dream.

To bad we could not meet up this trip. Next time! This pic was taken today in the cane fields probably right after you saw Greg in Paia.

Yeah that road along the backside of Haleakala is amazing! We do our tours back there and the twistys are super fun, it was just repaved recently to and perfect :)

Is that on Oahu island?
Haha I am in wailea now. Wished I planned better to get some ds rentals

Tallest hill on Cebu is just over 3,000'.

We just do dual sport day tours. Half and Full Day. Costa Rica is great, I spent alot of time riding there all over the country. Much different than Hawaii though. There are some really good deals from the west coast to Maui right now. ~$300 Round Trip! If you want any info on Costa or Hawaii shoot me a PM :)

I just read your Yolanda ride report, looks like it was not nearly as bad up in Cebu that is good. I have been to almost every major island in the Philippines and they vary so much. I would imagine putting your bike on those little boats inter island is a interesting adventure in itself haha. Im curious on how you got your Husky over there?

We did a full loop of northern luzon on the dirt bike trip sticking to the coast on the west side and then inland to the mountain region of Sagada and down through the middle of the island. I still need to finish that ride report, things got crazy once we hit the mountain region.

Maui is pretty amazing, and not just for the riding. Have you been before? Yeah I just got a new 2014 CRF250L that would be perfect for you guys in our rental fleet. That is the bike out on a tour in the above picture, fun little cruiser to explore the island with.

Do you guys have any real bike to rent ? I would hate to spend bank getting to Hawaii and have do down grade from what I ride.

I really wanted to hook up with your outfit but with the whole famdamly filling the daily plans, I quickly realized a whole day without the chauffeur (yours truly) was gonna be kinda Kapu.

We did roll past the place and saw the Husky proudly parked out front. Folks this is no fly by night operation, easy to find, minutes from the airport, and plenty bikes!

In silent protest, I poopooed any mention of going to Haleakalah so we can do it next time, when it's just me and my lady.

Very nice pix from Maui. I have never been anywhere out west non the less out that far to sea lol...... that looks amazing. we have some nice scenic views here of mountains but nothing like the ocean. I wish I could take my bike there just to enjoy a few rides!!

Couple questions after this first ride. First of all wow what a different bike this is now than stock. Feels like a big block muscle car with all the torque.

There were a couple times during the ride where it would die out when I had the clutch pulled in and then would not start without giving it gas. It ran amazing almost the whole ride but there were a few very annoying stall outs for no apparent reason. Is the computer still learning the mapping or is this going to be a consistent problem?

After getting back the ECU from Zip Ty with map 3 installed I kind of assumed it would say Race Map III on the dash but it still says Race Map II. Is this normal?
