  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Our whole approach with the work done on the Husqvarna 300 was to increase torque and bottom end power to make a smoother and really strong bottom end power curve to suit the tight and technical demands of GNCC racing. The Pro Circuit engine mods and exhaust, combined with the ignition from the MX model and Kehin carb, create an engine with a smoother power delivery and more torque.
In the handling department the factory clamps provide better, tighter turning that is enhanced by the 2010 Husqvarna KYB forks. Ohlin's TTX shock and fork cartridge are used for more control and adjustment. The TTX shock relieved us of some fade issues we were experiencing in the 3 hour GNCC.
A big improvement was the Magura hydraulic clutch that makes for a lighter and more linear pull with a much more definite engagement point.
The rest of the modifications made to the bike are all aimed at increasing the durability of the machine for the rigors of GNCC racing along with personalizing the bike to my liking. All combined, this is one trick looking Italian stallion!

I want all that stuff, but I NEED the pipe/silencer and hydro clutch.

Obviously Pro Circuit has the pipe dimensions. Start building them****************************************!

Any idea what clutch model fits the WR250/300? I dont see anything on Magura's site.

Thanks for posting!

Anybody try the 14/49 gearing? How does it work? I run 13/48 for enduros and 14/48 for Hare Scrambles. I wonder if its a good inbetween gearing?

I never liked any PC pipes I tried on the WR250's. Stock pipe always made more power and ran better :excuseme: His motor is far from stock so maybe it works with his. Funny all the engine building and then the flywheel to tame it. :)

now thats a list!!! It give us all an idea just how modified those "production" bikes are, even in the off road world (MX is like WSBK as far as track mods go)

GK's web page

Hall's has the pipe and silencer, now.

You might be able to get the Magura clutch from Wyatt Seals shop or contact Magura USA. MOTO-WORKS

I'm not sure why they switch to the 2000 CR ignition, but I think the WEC guys run it too. But, adding the FWW to the MX ignition probable just cancels out the weight loss from the WR unit.

I emailed the guy from Magura a couple months back about a hydro clutch. He said they have a kit that bolts right up. Its new, so it has not made its way to the website yet. He told me the price was around $200.00 as a promo.

I like how the article says the bike is one of the few competitive 2-strokes. Makes me feel better about keeping my '06 WR250.

Is anyone running the Mooses or Tubliss? Do you like either one? The Mooses are more for the pro racer, right?

If my poor memory serves me right,Fred Hoess had some workings with hydraulic clutches for Husky a few years ago.Might be worth a look see.

I've been running the Tubliss in the rear with great results. Unlike a moose, it makes tire changes easy and appears it should last a very long time.

I'm going to get one for the front soon.

GK's bike is sweet. It also doesn't look toooooo far off from stock. All the pros have factory suspension and the motor mods aren't that different from what local racers might do [although the cr ignition + flywheel are interesting to me]. Good to hear. Now let the magazines ride it and offer their thoughts.

Finally got the ol' melon thinking and found this on Fred Hoess.May have to e-mail him to check on the hydraulic clutch for Husky. Website : pingear.com or e-mail at fhrengprod@hotmail.com .
HAVE A GOOD DAY
