• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

GAS -GAS 2018

I was impressed by the sound, fit and finish of the GG bikes at Endurocross. I was a member of the track crew and got very up close with them several times. They just sounded sweet.

Deep meaty sound to match the deep meaty power. They really updated the motor nicely. Took an already very good motor and made it better. I always thought it was the best part of the GG line. Now the rest of the bike is up to standard and beyond.

Older GG250, 2017 Beta 300RR, TE300 and the new GG. The GG stands tall in this group no problem. Owner of the TE said he loved the GG for the same reasons I do. All great bikes.

Which bike was the really short guy riding?

I'm the owner of the 17 TE300 that Kelly mentioned that rode the 18 GaGas this weekend. I agree with most everthing he said about the differences. The vibration was noticeable when I first hopped on vs the Husky but didn't notice it much after a bit. The motor has tons of low end but I personally prefer the Husky motor for my do it all bike. The starter is goofy, other then those two item's I really liked it. I would still choose the Husky if I'm spending my money for a few different reasons,. But if money was no issue I would have both the gas gas would be my dedicated hill climbing wet NW riding choice.

You really should ride one before making statements about it. No one mentioned the weight and it feels very light. The vibration is less than most bike but still slightly more than the counterbalanced husky/KTM. Not an issue.

Absolutely not. Feels very modern, refined and well thought out. This same model just won the Tecate enduro pro class.

Wow, maybe you would like to ride one before making lots of bold claims. The bike is excellent. Ride one and I bet you sing a much different tune.

Did a camp and ride this weekend so rode it two days back to back. Buddy with a decked out 2017 TE300 was along for the ride and very keen to try the GG. We swapped. Here are my feeling and this was echoed by the TE owner. The GG does not feel heavier. They feel about the same. No one has rode the GG and mentioned anything about weight. It feels as light as any other 250-300 I have ridden and that's many bikes, in fact I've ridden almost everything but a new Sherco or TM. Weight is not a factor. The TE has a smoother engine wise but not a lot, the GG is smooth too. Smoother than a Beta and much smoother than a YZ. Its 100% acceptable. We both strongly agreed the GG has a much stronger engine than the TE300 or Beta 300. More beef on the bottom and feels like a super refined big bore. It lug so freaking low and rev out so well the TE owner (mid pack A class guy) said it needs like 2 gears it is so flexible. The GG handles more sure footed, feels more planted and does not hunt around on the trail like the TE can. Goes right where you point it and does so with no need to chase it around. Much less lively feeling than the TE. Just goes where you point it with no drama or extra input needed.

My TE -v- GG feelings echo his. Ken has his TE stup well, correct springs etc.
  • The TE is slightly smoother motor wise
  • The TE handles rocks better as it is softer
  • The TE has a good bit less power
  • The TE takes more input to keep in line handling wise
The TE is sorted with springs, jetting and some aftermarket goodies. The GG is 100% stock. IMHO the GG is slightly better bike overall. The GG motor is amazing, very powerful but very easy to control. The GG clutch is super smooth and easy to use and the trans shifts crazy smooth too. This makes the GG a monster on the trails and climbs amazing. The GG is more planted and moves around a lot less than the TE and I find it easier to find and hold the line I want.

The TE is a great bike, the GG is too. The GG is my pick because of the handling and motor.

I am building a completely decked out 2018 TE250i, we will see how that stacks up.
- So many great bikes to sample these days. Do yourself a favor and ride the GG.

Don't care. GG feels as light as the TE when riding them and works slightly better overall.
I'm not getting in a pissing match ....the gas gas is heavy...fact...and ex state champions input is very valuable to me...fact. what class and level and best overall finish do you have? The gasser vibrates noticeably more then a new husky..fact...i get it you like ajp...lol..i also understand for certain people different bikes work better for different size people and different level riders...facts are facts...even without riding one. Vibration means alot to me as does weight of a bike..part of that is I'm getting older...reality is a b or c rider pace , weight not and issue at all..competitive older a class rider means a bit to me..do they look great . You bet! That motor better be faster then the old one....no bold statements just facts...have I had good luck considering I've owned at least probably 8 gassers...yes...just a fluke the 97 grenaded tranny. Your benchmark that may work for you may not work for someone else...same as me...the new generation husky is a masterpiece...that is simple...a fast guy can find faults quick while a slow to intermediate rider never pushes hard enough to see chassis design faults unless they are super obviois...you and I will never see eye to eye...fact....its ok that makes us individuals...

Come out and ride with me fast guy.

Come out and ride with me fast guy.
Ha..both like little kids..i would love to ride with you or anyone else who loves this sport....my best finish was back in 11.....12th overall...not perfect but not bad...but yea...bring your gasser to mn...and we will see which bike and rider is the victor.....all in fun...unless it's a ama race..lol...weight may not be a factor to you because you must be superman and a legend in your own mind...nice te thou...

I get it and ain't dishing u..one guys benchmark or bike that works well may be.different then another guys..thats great we have alot of different options....

.and in my mind and the mind of a brilliant husky gas gas shop owner it feels as tall as the red huskys.

Fletch, remember not all of us a like a cramped midget bike and need a roomy tall bike to feel comfortable after 2 knee surgeries.

lol..i.dont like a midget bike..lol the stock height well I guess I have a low seat..feels perfect for me..the gasser is tall and that s my point what works for one guy may not work for another...the new g assers are superior in most every aspect to the previous ones..for sure..but they need a different frame...less weight and less vibration to be called a benchmark..husky sets the benchmark for others to try to beat.. believe me I still love gas gas....its just not up to snuff when compared to a new husky...mayby on.par with a 15 husky..
