  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC FE 350 suspension tips

Does anyone have a Spring Rate / Rider Weight Chart?
The one in my owners manual only goes up to Rider Weight 95kg / 209 LB.

Just a heads up on race tech, they tend to suggest extremely heavy spring rates...
My 09 kx450f had one of the best set-ups and valving I have ever had. To get race tech to match those spring rates I had to estimated my weight 25 pounds lower then my actual weight, I also had to say I was a biggener rider vs. an AA rider.
Once I figured out that formula to put into Race tech spring chart, the suggested rates for my last few bikes have been spot on.

And I hope is true for the 15' FE 350 which I went with .50 fork springs and 6.4 shock

Hope this makes since,

Kind of disappointed in these forks yet, sounds like only a handful of people have these things dialed. Zip Ty seemed the most reasonable in price and the others were all up around $1400 for the "works" as you'd call it to "redesign" the forks. Just crazy expensive and hard to swallow after the purchase price of the bike! This might be what sends me to another brand, I don't know....
I think they can all make the suspension better, I'm not knocking anyone so don't get me wrong. I just feel like my grandpa complaining about prices these days Lol!

Reality check. If the forks are as bad stock as everyone seems to be saying. Wow.....yea all that ching I expect more...... we will see how my new bike feels with a basic revalve from halls. If they do not work I won't mess around I'll remove them sell them on eBay and throw on a different fork. Or sell the bike lose my as---- considering that I could of bought 2 txc 250"s for the same price with a chassis I know works..... time will tell and confident this bike will be great!

Seriously, if that's your approach, don't even waste your time and money with the re-valve. 48mm Shivers will out perform any variant of the 4CS hands down.

To bad a gas gas doesn't weigh 220 pounds..... how much trouble is it to put the 48 mm zoke on the new husky?? Do I have to run a different wheel etc...??? Wtf if husky is the premium line do they get and inferior problematic fork?? I already have money down on this bike and have had halls add enough stuff I can't back out or my long standing relationship with them would be over. Scrap iron price on 4cs fork app $4.00 enough for a 40 ounce mickey....its all to complicated..lol. beta stupid estart mandatory. Gas gas my lord get the lead out. Tm your frame is to rigid. Husqvarna Italian parts??????? My wife told me buy a yz........I really didn't factor in forks on a bike that's 9k with acc..... OK I'm rambling. Need another beer to try to figure this one out... PS will yz 125 forks go on????

What are the shivers you guys talk about?

now my forks have the right springs they aren't that bad, would be the best stock forks I have owned. Hated the handling on my husaberg 450 with the OC forks

At least try them before you go ordering ton's of replacement parts. I changed springs and dialed it in and they are great. They soak up the hard hits and the bike is easy to ride FAST! So much drama...

reveille you're a lucky man. I put the correct springs in my 2015 KTM 4cs forks and played with the clickers for about 5 hours and thought ok this isn't to bad. Then I hopped on my son's 2013 Husky TC250 and was turning inside every line with ease and confidence that I had just laid down with the KTM. My 4cs are sketchy and inspire little confidence. I'm going to watch this site and hope somebody like TY comes up with a silver bullet. I'm not into drama myself and sure don't want to scare anybody from a new bike just want a solution. Heck mines orange and may be different from the white bikes :D.

There are several different versions of the 4CS forks out there and yes the Husky valving is different from the KTM's at least from what everything Iv'e read over on KTM talk so I take that with a grain of salt as with everything else on the web.

I have the complete forks on my Beta and for the first 15 hrs all was find. Now the anodize coatings both inside and DLC are failing. Fork oil is badly contaminated and this seems to be the norm from what I have heard. Changing oil every 15hrs just to keep clean. For what it's worth I would try to either make these 4CS work or install Yamaha SSS forks. These 48 Shivers are very good performing and have a large adjustment range but the cost of parts and maintenance is just too much. Using just the cartridge should eliminate most wear issues but the expense is still there. I love these forks but will never buy them again.

Gasgas may be heavy but it may mean we can get parts from them for our italian bikes. They just posted the xlite on facebook :)

You need to step away from the forum until you get your bike and test it yourself. Even if it sucks there are solutions that are much cheaper then depreciation ;)

Good point. Yz 125 forks feel real good even stock. Yea have to try them for myself. How hard is it to make the 125 forks work on this bike. Or heck possibly I'll love the 4cs who knows without riding......
