  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Dyno Port pipe for '09 WR144

After dartyppyt said the Dyno Port pipe was the cat's ass for a 144, I knew it was time to get one. I've had good luck with Rich Daly's pipes on Husky 250 and 125's in the past. I took my '09 WR144 over for Rich to fit the '98-'02 pipe up to the newer bike. He made up 2 pipes for me, one will go to Joe Chod. Rich test rode the bike and decided it would work better with a smaller bore carb, so he machined and installed a 36 mm sleeve into my PWK 38. He didn't have the Keihin jets and needles to play with, but gave me specific instructions. I set it up to his specs today and all I can say is.... Wow! More power everwhere.... bottom, mid and top. I was really suprised by the top end boost. Right now, it's hard to imagine how much better a CR150 could be. I'm not sure I need a Husaberg TE250 either!

Very good will it fit a 2008 CR144? Yeah you don't need no blue pumpkin.......jk.
John,
I'm don't think so. Joe Chod could probably say, as he had the '98-02 pipe on his '04 and maybe his '07. He had to mod it for the '04 up, as the pipe fit, but the location of the stinger/silencer joint moved. He tried the '98-'02 pipe on his '09 and it wasn't close on either end. I never tried mine from my '02 WR125 on my '09 WR125, as Rich Little wanted it, when he bought my '02.

Norm,

Glad you like it! They are really good pipes. Sometimes us old timers forget what worked good for us back then.

If you go with the natural finsh, which is cool anyway. I get it good and hot, then season it about the first 5 times, by taking a rag of 85 gear oil and rubbing it all over pipe till it cools. The WD40 from there on out.

You and Joe keep the thread going and some more ride reports.

Got my Leo Vince Silencer for my WR 125/150 yesterday. NICE. Double the length of the stocker so means more packing and quieter. Yeah..Yeah...a 125 is supposed to have that sound but less sound = more ground. I will try the silencer alone first as a pipe historically has always given more and want to get a real perspective of these mods. nice easy in/easy out screen type sparky also. easy maintenance.

Joe

I am real anxious to fit their 250 one on my 08 WR 250. I am getting another 125 one for Evans bike, this winter. I will have him make it all except for welding the stinger pipe on and rear bracket. Joe let us know how the combo works because those LEO's are nice.

Rich decided to paint the pipes black, which was fine by me. Fit is better than the stocker and a lot more rugged.

Walt, I'm sure he can make more of these pipes. I spoke to him about your "Hybrid" 165 pipe and he said you should talk to him, but would probably be next Spring. When I picked up my bike and the pipes, Rich had already left on a snowmobile drag racing testing trip. On that note he said the best KTM 200 pipe is his KDX200 pipe.....

Well now ......congrats on your new Berg! I do think the pumpkins look way better in blue and the yellow frame looks sweet!

Cool! I've been wanting a Leo Vince silencer, since I saw them on the CH Racing bikes in '09. Pic of Manzi's '09 WR125 with one, is the background on my computer. I've been running the longer Husky Euro spec '09 WR 125 silencer on my bike. It is quieter and I think better top end over Husky CR shorty that US Spec WR125/150's get. LV will be the icing on the cake!

Walt,

Now there is a 200 number coming out of you? You better come clean, soon?

First it was 144, Then 167, Then 165, now 200?

Going down today to Barnes & Nobles to pick up your new book, Walter Shelley's Huskenstein.

Norm, do we need to send Joe over there with his digital camera?

Norm,

Good looking pipe! I like the fit back by shock and also the cones!

The pipe also comes out of the cylinder at a more straighter angle, before making the bend.

Also like the P3 pipe guard! Does it fit well?

The P3 guard fits well, better than on the stock pipe on the head pipe. I had to notch it a little for the main pipe mount. Joe's new Leo Vince silencer will need a little persuading to fit on the Dyno Port stinger. I think just getting the paint off will help. The LV silencer is a thing of beauty!

Thanx Norm, can't wait to see the LV installed and get ride report. Did you have on on a past Husky 250? If you did or anyone else please chime in, if you remember the difference?

I put one on my 87 430 and it really made a difference.

I had one on my '00 WR250 and it was definitely more meaty bottom and mid, with less top. On the old wide ratio 5 speed this wasn't a problem. I'm not sure on a close ratio WR250. It was a good upgrade for the riding I do.
