  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone weighed their bike ? wr125 or 250
Ive seen varying specs of 96kg and 99.3 kg dry for the WR125 07 and 08 and 99.3 kg dry for 09.
Yet tested wet weight of 105 kg for 09 - which with about 8kg of fluids leads me to believe 96 - 97 dry is closer..
Seems to me though that the 06-08 and 09 125 is much the same weight

My 2000 Wr250 with handguards, skidplate, slime in heavy duty tubes, and all fluids weighs 248lbs. The newer ones might have a smaller gas tank and weigh less because of that though...

Actually the 2010 wr 125 is 233 lbs fully loaded - 105.6kg apparently as tested in Dirt Rider test.
With less fuel in the 125 thats only 14 - 15 lbs more on a 2000 mdoel 250
Any older 125s weighed or newer 250s

My 2000 WR250 with all of the above and a full Baja Designs DS kit 252lbs on a County Certified scale. 2002 WR125 with all above (headlight, tailight and ICO) on the same scale, 232lbs. Both these bikes had 2.9 gallon tanks.

I haven't weighed my '09 WR125 yet.

I think that disproves the myth that the newer model is lighter than older wrs ( not stirring or anything)

Actually they are. the frame alone lost 2-4 pounds.

so they say - but doesnt seem to show on the scales
Please post your data. I'm dying to finally see it all in one place and in one post.

I think they are 2-5 pounds lighter. the bigger forks might take some of that back though. When Norm weighs his 09 we will know.

2006 WR 250
Stock except hand guards, rad guards and headlight replaced with MX number plate ...
240 lbs ready to ride with 1/3 tank of fuel

As I said I am quoting the Dirt Rider test which is on the Wr 125 sticky index - at the end
If you google the specs you will also see on Bikez Encyclopaedia that 09 s and 09s they are listed at the same weght .
at 99.3kg
Other website has dry weight 09 wr at 101 kg
http://www.motorbikes.be/en/Husqvarna_WR_125_2009.aspx

Whereas Husqvarna website Wr 125 2008 Dry weight 96 kg
(which seems too low)

http://www.husqvarnamotorcycles.com.au/model.php?my=2008&model=wr_125
The cr 125 10 is listed 97 kg dry on the same website ? 09 93 kg
and 08 model 93 kg

Just seems like info is all over the place and not consistent but
08 is definately not heavier

Right ...info is all over the place and not consistent ... I have been riding bikes since 1974 and the weight info was all over the place then also... Colorful brochures are not always gonna be right ...

Best bet is a rider weighting his bike and then relaying it to others ... Maybe his scales are correct and he is honest ;0)

I saw many threads out here where guys were weighting dressed out 450s ... 270 and above was not uncommon ...

As bad as this sounds, a few pounds either way is not gonna make much difference to most of our riding abilities. If you are border-line weakling such as me , total weight can make a difference when picking the bike up off the ground ... ESP on some hills but removing my estart and battery (~10lbs) ain't gonna make me win the championship ...

I agree and thats why I was wondering if someone has actually measured an wr 125 07
to compare to 09 figure of 233.
I think the 09 is about 5 lbs heavier than 07.
There is also relevance to the 250 ..
Everyone has been talking up the new frame and waiting on a new WR 250 but I think if you take the 125 09 weight at 233 lbs
increased it with the engine weight of a 250 its going to be much the same weight as the current 250. Hopefully the engine will be reduced in weight

I have a 2007 WR125 that I weighed with a full tank of gas and all the extra accessories that I put on(Moose skid plate,Motosportz disk guard, radiator guards, barkbusters) and a few other small items and mine weighed 231 lbs,my son has a 2005 KTM 200exc and has about the same accessories and it weighed in at around 240.

Regardless of weight (which I have never been real concerned about) the turning prowess of the new frame is what I like, that and the ergonomics. As for the 125 I don't think I would want my 125 lighter. Borders on to light as is. Super light bikes get deflected EZer. I never ride my 125 and wish it was lighter thats for sure. When i ride WR250's I feel lighter would be better but not the end all. I would be fine if it weighed about the same but turned and feel like the 08 and up bikes. I don't think my 08 TXC450 was light but feels a lot lighter and maneuverable on the trail than any of the earlier generation 450/510 IMHO. I guess what i am saying is actual weight means a lot less to me than how the bike feels on the trail. I spent 200 miles on a 2010 FE390 Berg, not a light bike at all but had no issues with the weight as it rode and works fantastic.

On the 125 lets also remember we are weighing a WR off road bike not a CR MX bike. Light, computer, wiring harness, tail light, muffler, kick stand, flywheel, rectifier / regulator, heavy duty tubes, FIM tires, solid rotor (on some), brackets for all that crap all add up.

Bill502 - thanks for the info . It is good to see that the wr 125 07 is lighter than a KTM 200.
Kelly - I agree - I havent ridden a new shape 125 and liked the 09 TE450 as it turned very sharply . I have ridden the TE 250 and didnt notice the sharp turning as much.

I am not totally sold on the ergonomics and would need to measure the two to see how spread out they are . (I like mine but need to raise bars for standing )
After various comments on different posts I just wanted to show that the old ( 06,07,08 ) bike is not heavier and I think this has been shown .

I should add that my WR250 doesn't have any lights or a computer.

WR 300 2010 is 256 lb with fuel
KTM 300 2010 is 248lb with fuel
TE 510 is 283 lb with fuel
( July 2010 ADB big bore test)

The bathroom scale isn't official by any means, but I just wanted a ballpark figure. My 2009 TXC 250 is 267 lbs kitted and ready to rock (i.e., stock gas tank full, Hyde skid plate, front and rear motosportz rotor guards, motosportz radiator guards, P3 header and mid-pipe guard, trail tech computer, Cycra Handguards, tail light/license plate and Stabilizer). Ioneater's 2010 TXC 250 on the same scale with approximately the same items weighed in at 255 lbs...12 lbs difference. Mine holds a lot more oil. :D
