Anyone use an Open Face helmet?

I use to use one years ago (Bell Mag 4)....just thought with the extreme heat here this summer of using one for play ridng and testing....what do you use? i would like one with a real visor...what about a face mask?

I used to wear open face helmets almost exclusively for trail riding. I even wore a trials helmet for a while. I love the air flow and visibility that an open face helmet affords. Bell still makes the RT and the Magnum, both touring helmets. Currently I am looking at a couple of helmets, the AFX FX44 and the Gmax GM27. If you have any trials helmets available in your area, those would be a good bet.

mostly dont like the little visor....wonder how much difference there is in the 2...the air flow is what i really want...do you where a face mask...I wore a scott full venturi way back...

Back in "the day" I wore a Jofa mouth guard for racing MX and GP. Tried the Scott and a couple of other brands of face guard, but found them to be too hot and restrictive. For riding the trails, I just wore the helmet. Open face is open face. Heck, I don't even like goggles! Wearing a full coverage helmet would be cooler than wearing a face guard.

I do, street only tho. It's the hjc is33, has built in sunshade thing that snap up inside the helmet with a push of the button

I just used my Klim vented helmet for the first time recently... WOW. Lots of air flow, light weight. Great helmet. Atomic-moto has some good deals on them.

$187 is pretty good for a top of the line helmet.

Bring back the open face helmets with the Visor-Vue mirrors. I would use it in the bush for sure.

Works well on a 125

And on a 430!

Ate a few worms and mud though that day in a monsoon!

Seriously wish a quality open face for dirt was made. I have doubts about a good trials helmet taking a wack...but am no expert on those. Anyone???

If they are DOT approved, their structure should be able to take the same whacking as any other open faced helmet. (I mean, those guys do fall on BIG rocks and all).

The article below states that the energy-absorbing inner liner, made of expanded polystyrene or EPS, the same stuff used in beer coolers, foam coffee cups, and packing material is what saves your life ..not the outer liner or the paint job ... even the cheaper helmets are very good at life saving ...

I have been wanting to get an open face. I feel kinda dorky when I ride my 66 T100C with a FCH.
There is still an old Bell Magnum w/duck bill up in the shop, but the mice have eaten the foam out of the liner -.
