• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone use an Open Face helmet?

While my cousin and I were out riding in the desert we came across a small wash - I stopped in time and he didn't. He ended up breaking his jaw and loosing 6 teeth when he bit the kill switch off his handlebars. I never feel the need to wear an open face helmet no matter how hot it is. But to each his own.

see if you look at it too...I have done the smae exact thing with a full face...if you hit straight on the front its good...if up hit in and upward motion its gonna move up and down....

You are crazy or super lucky to be rockin' that set-up with no repercussions! I like the race set-up that you posted in the "What's wrong with this picture" thread much better. I used to use safety glasses instead of goggles because of the fogging. Yeah, I'm a sweaty bastard...buckets of it. I switched to double pane goggle lenses and I don't have a fogging issue anymore.

I don't even race (you do) and I've eaten rocks to the point that my beak has taken a beating because of NO coverage. Hell, Jim took a rock to his eye (cut his eyebrow) when we were riding Baja and he was wearing goggles.

By the way, the 2nd picture doesn't look like you.

Ate a few worms and mud though that day in a monsoon!

Seriously wish a quality open face for dirt was made. I have doubts about a good trials helmet taking a wack...but am no expert on those. Anyone???
