• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Any Interest in a 630 Sidestand?

I have a new shop under construction right now, and Maybe, when it is completed, I could fab a few stands. But, it will be a while. I have concrete in but framing hasn't started yet.

Any chance of some measurements of your stand Ken?
From the bolt hole to the foot[2] and kick out [1].
Think i might have found a stand from another bike ,they have a couple of different versions ,hoping one is close.

I would measure, but my bike is currently in California at Zip Ty's, while I am at home. Maybe another member with my stand will do the honors?

Also interested in a new side stand having bent the alloy one. New OEM is $230 but I suspect there's better option out there cheaper. Aside from Ken's prototype from a 610, what other options are people seeing?

I am also interested in buying one, but I am from Melbourne. Would you still be able to ship one to me when you are ready?

Sorry guys, and gals, but no more stands. No plans to make any more, but as mentioned before, you can modify a stock steel 610 stand to work just fine. Look at my original thread for how to do it.

I have been trying to find a 610 stand to mod... no luck might need to find someone handy to make me a stand

You can do it. I made one from scratch for my TE310 which has the same crappy stand as the 630. I made the top lug from three pieces of steel plate, welded together, since I couldn't machine one from solid stock. It's mainly hand work with a saw and grinder.

Been playing round wirh a drz one.Looks like it will be easier to make one from scratch.Kenneth's method or the old husky way of a piece of flat bent into a U.I have a lathe and am in the middle of setting up my workshop. If you aren't in a hurry I can let you know when I get around to finishing a stand .Going back to work next week will eat into my spare time.

Hi Kenneth
What year model 610 stand did you use.mine is bent. I want to replace it with a steel one and modifying the 610 stand looks better than making one from scratch
Thanks Tom mcc

Tom, I don't know the year. I called Halls and ordered the most recent year that had the steel stand. The reinforcement piece that I added is the most critical mod, along with a steel "stop" which I hand fabricated and welded to the stock bracket. Lengthen the stand to suit. Works great and mine has been subjected to lots of use and abuse with no issues at all.

OK hope this helps. The finished length of the tube is 14" from the bolt hole to the longest part of the stand. It is cut on a compound angle so suggest you leave it a little long and scribe to the floor to fit. I put a 3" diameter pad on the bottom. There is a 20 degree angle between the lug and the tube. Are you using the steel 610 stand for starters? If so, sawcut about halfway or more thru the tube right at the lug and bend to get it right, like I did, then weld it up. The stand should line up nicely with the swing arm when up, and project 8" from the footpeg pivot pin to the center of the tube at the bottom, and should be 1.25" forward of the center of the peg pin. This is as viewed from the top looking straight down. Be sure to double up the tube at the top for strength, or I think it will break. My prototype is going strong after thousands of miles on a fully loaded bike.

Thanks much appreciated.
I will be building from scratch , hopefully strength won't be a issue, going to run a thin piece of flat from the top of the lug down about 125mm on the tube like a lot of other brand stands.
