  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Alternate Set Of Rims: Which to Choose

SierraHusky

Husqvarna
B Class
I've decided I want an alternate set of rims for my 08' TE510. I want these with mild rubber for more street oriented use (Pirelli Scorpions) that I can swap quickly when I'm not planning a trail ride. I'd rather not go the motard route as I want to keep this simple and not mess with rotors/sprockets/fenders, etc...

Used stock sets seem to be hard to come by so I figured I'd order a new set from FasterUSA. They seem knowledgeable and have good prices. Now I just need to decide between the Excel Notako or the Excel Takasgo. My thinking is the Notako's would be the more street oriented set and would be more than up to the task. Another set of Takasago's for that purpose would probably be overkill. Price difference is $ 180.00 for the fully laced set.

Has anyone had any negative experiences with the Notako's ??

Yep, they carry rims for Huskys, I spoke with them and they have not updated their site to reflect their full offering. Same pricing as for KTMs.

The Notako's are designed for the "enthusiast". The Takasago's are for "race"

I haven't heard of Notako's either. Is there a weight difference?
Why $180 upcharge? On their website there is only a $10 per rim difference.

The $ 180 is an upcharge from the Notako's to the Takasugo"s for the complete built set. Weight difference is in ounces not pounds so it's minimal for my purposes.

Hmmm. If you look in their rim section the Notako's are more than the Takasago's. I would think that the hubs and lacing would be the same no matter which rim you choose.
