  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

For parts, you can't beat Halls, but I was lucky with T&C. The pinion is part of the shaft and the "upgrade" gear kit comes with everything you see below. The part # is on the box, but there's no individual part # inscribed on the gear. I'm up near Mahwah.

If you are near Mahwah then we should go riding.

I'm up there frequently. I never rode that though.

I have 5 or so miles we could link together for a nice section I bet.

Sounds great! I just set up my Rekluse and went for a ride around Montclair. Set up was easy. I found a way to start it. If I disconnect my fuel line and reconnect it, she will start on the 3rd or 4th kick. I still can not wait for Fridays parts for the electric starter to come. Yesterday when I went to NY to get the starter from RailroadRog, the café forum member that was advertising the starter on eBay, he sold me a bunch of other stuff. One thing was a unit called a JDJetter. It fits under the seat and wires in easily. It controls a bunch of fuel injection things like jetting, idle, fuel pressure, etc. Maybe this can help my problem. Also I have an oil leak on the left side where the wires come out of the block for the ignition. I paid $200 to have it repaired but I see it still is dripping.

I punch in from the ringwood side, head to xmas tree, do the riverbed and more....you know that stuff? Where do you access from?

My left side wire grommet leaks also, but some RTV sealer should stop that when I get in there to change my starter gears. My wife's bike also leaks from the same place.

Your so lucky that your wife rides! When I dated my wife I took her 4 wheeling in my awesome show winning blazer, out on my Cigarette boat and hiking. As soon as we got married, those days ended. She had me get rid of my toys, one by one. I still have a super charged smaller boat but she tends to yell at any speed over 40. My monster truck was super cool too with every thing but that was the first to go. Then the 100 mph 30 footer. So 3 months age I bought my 12 year old son a Honda 100R and my 9 year old son a Suzuki DRZ110R. Then I got my Husky.... But all was still happy here in picnic grove. My 12 year old is a super swimmer. 5th in the state in his age group for the butterfly and 8th in the back stroke out of 2200 kids. He wanted to try his brothers 110 6 weeks ago in our back yard. He rode it up to the house and back perfectly! First time ever driving a dirt bike. He turned around and went towards the house, slipped off the seat while still holding the handle bar, gassed it right into the bushes and broke his wrist.....My wife wants their bikes gone, the 3 bike trailer out of the driveway and my Husky too.... Yes you are so lucky your wife rides:notworthy: !!!

Wow! Congratulations to you and your son on the swimming victory! Sounds like he had a small case of whiskey throttle on the test ride, but broken bones can heal and he'll be back stronger than ever, wishing a speedy recovery for him. Yes, I'm lucky my wife rides (it was her idea to get the Husky after I bought my WR250), she has a Triumph Tiger 800 and loves to ride. Lots of fire roads here to learn riding the husky on safely. BTW, nice toy collection!

Thanks! It took 4 weeks to get the cast off and he has been at practice every day since. This weekend is his first meet in the long course section, the Olympic sized pools, so we are hoping for the best. Luckily he is young and hopefully be will bounce back. Maybe the following weekend I can make it up your way to the trails. I completely forgot about his meet this weekend, I was so excited over my starter parts. Your Husky looks so nice. I told Central Jersey Cycles that I wanted to make my bike street legal and he sent me an after market head light set up. After seeing yours, I am going to call Toy-Tec this morning and see if I can order one. Also my graphics were sized for your style. Oh and nice Triumphs!!

Cool! Toy-Tec told me today that my parts may be arriving Saturday not Friday and we have a swim meet on Saturday. Sunday may be open for the trails. Yesterday I took my Husky to a job site a couple of miles from home and it would not restart. My wife came and got me and I came back with my trailer to get it. I really must tweak this starting problem asap. And I can not wait to fix the starter...

I don't ride the husky anymore at this point till I get my starter fixed. I take the Yamaha 'cuz it's 100% reliable. I got so beat kickstarting 2 weeks ago that I crashed coming down a rocky hill trying to catch up with my buddies. My helmet hit a rock so hard that the foam liner inside cracked and my forehead ended up with a gash and I got a blackeye for a few days. It was a wakeup call to get the starter fixed. Hence my appearance on this website.
