  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

OMG! Dude, last night, 86 degrees, after breaking up a huge cement sidewalk and loading 3 trips worth in my Avalanche ( 4 hours on that day job) then kicking and kicking just 2 hours later.... It was so deja vu all over again from the Hare scramble at the Jersey shore 3 weeks ago. That's when my starter gave out and I kick started my Husky 8 separate times. :eek: Yea that was when I decided to put my cardiologist on speed dial... And that is why my bike is still on the trailer and not back in the garage. All kidding aside, I am sure glad you did get more hurt!

Yup, waiting for my flywheel puller from Halls. Any day now.
There's no pushing the bike out of these woods here, too rocky and steep. If you get stuck, you'll need a helicopter to airlift your bike out.
Get your bike 100% reliable before you ride here.

Boy, I'll say! I need a puller too. They are out of them at the Toy-Tec and could not send one with my parts coming Saturday. I saw under technical-reference here at the forum a really good video on valve adjustments. With settings and illustrations it could not be easier. And for the $300 starting price stated to me by the KTM dealer on RT. 10 East Hanover, alone with the two week booked till time on the shop, it looks like post starter install that will be next. Your definitely right about truly being ready before heading to the trails.
 
Thanks! I just may take you up on that. I guess when the parts come I can through the bike on the trailer and head your way. I was also thinking of taking it to Central Jersey Cycles to ask him to pull it for me because I paid him over $100 to fix the oil leak and if I pull the cover myself I may void a responsibility he has for the continued leak on that side. Thanks...
 
Airrider, I climbed up on the trailer and gave the Husky a couple of kicks and she fired up so I rolled it off of the trailer and went to the Caldwell trails. Rolled around for an hour and headed back home. She is really leaking a lot of oil, but other wise was excellent. I went around most of the puddles and tried not to stop too long in one place because the mosquitos are really bad there. Had a lot of power and with the Rekluse had no problem keeping it running. :cheers: Can not wait to roll around the trails up your way soon!
 
Sounds great!! Thanks a lot. I am hoping that they will get my parts by Monday or Tuesday so I will let you know! I have that oil leak that I must address when I go in that side of the engine, even though I paid Central Jersey Cycles to fix it. I was thinking of rolling down to the shore and asking him to pull the gear and see to the leak problem again while I wait. Either way, thanks again!
 
Guys I want to check out the trails. They really sound great! I Google mapped Stag Hill Rd and the hills with no mapped roads seam endless!:popcorn: Can't wait can't wait can't wait.
 
All I can say is that the first year I had the bike, the e-starter would work like any other, you can always count on it. Rarely, it would not turn the motor over as if the battery wasn't getting the power thru and you'd have to kick it over. Fast forward to this year after winter, the starter was not doing it's job at all. It took a while to realize it would e-start when cold and not when it's hot. Sometimes you can count on it e-starting during a ride, but only after a ten minute break when hot. So, it sucks when your trying to kick it over when your left leg is hanging off a hill and your KTM buddies are waiting for you to get going. I've done all things possible with electrical with temporary results, and now it's time to change the gears based on some of the things I've read in the Cafe. Total of about 750 trail miles and 50 street.
