• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

...After the rumors...is this the new project for a TE650?

Strada--- Forks, front fender, single rad not good for a DS bike. If they changed all that I could see it making a good DS. Are they 18" & 21" wheels? As the Strada sits, I really don't like it. :excuseme:

Forgive me but it's to long for my English:

Ciao!

E' pieno di questi pazzi furiosi come me.

+1 LOL..

Ciao duca, piacere!

What you guys think about KTM 690?

The time for bikes like Husky 610 had never started. In Italy the husky 610 is the classic bike of the young stupid boy, there are no forums, no clubs. This is the reason why I'm writing here... I'm very surprised of this forum (such as ADV rider)! I'm glad that in the world (for certein not in Italy) there are persons that understands the real dual purpose power of the 610-630. But we are in the minority... Husqvarna knows this!

-----> ENJOY your 610-630!!!

I considered the 690 when I bought my 610, but the dealer didn't return my email or calls while the Husky dealer was happy to hang out and talk to me about the bike. I'm glad I got the 610.

and what is this?

Strada:

Metzeler Tourance 100/90-19'' front and 130/80-17'' rear, 5 speed gear (I think It's amazing that in the 21th-century still exist engines with less than 6 speed...), BMW 650 DOHC engine.

Some photo chop CRAP HR from TT did. Not even close to being real or feasible. Just causes confusion. He pastes that front end on everything. Anyone can photo shop any crap on anything. Even has a gas cap where it can't be without an all new frame and the muffler he went on and on about.

This should be deleted.

Yuck on that whole front end...

Yeah, adding a bunch of high placed weight on an already too heavy machine makes no sense to me. Most people are shouting for a lighter machine like the 610/630. At that point I would much rather have a twin as you have lost all real off road riding anyway.

BMW already has something like that and with a twin...

The KTM guys are screaming for a 690 Adventure. If Husky/BMW was smart they would get something comparable to the market ASAP.

The BMW F800 is a pretty nice bike and will do most of the off road you throw at it. That said, I'm really enjoying the lighter weight of my 630.

*Sigh*

If Husqvarna start getting associated with fugly, overweight roadbikes then no young racer will ever buy a Husky competition dirtbike again.

The dual sport sector is pretty big on this side of The Pond - by dual sport I mean Dakar styled with an 80% tarmac bias. A lot of people use them for long distance touring on the variable quality roads that you can encounter in Europe. But BMW is already a big player in dual sport and I can't really see them wanting competition from a subsidiary.

I have to admit I'm baffled by what Beemer may have in store for Husky. I hope it doesn't suck...

Yes it is worrying - BMW have stated that as with Mini they will retain brand integrity ... well looks like they are already considering transplanting the heart! A rejigged Chinese Rotax is not going to cut it with me! There is though a gap in the BMW range for a mid sized 'hard enduro DS bike' (650 or thereabouts) - the X-Challenge was discontinued and the F800 is a bit 'soft' and heavy. This could be filled by a Husky...

Regarding the 'Dakar style' fairing - this is where the aftermarket demand is coming from for the KTM690R that is filling this niche with very nice options from UK and SA.

I would think BMW considers that spot filled already with their new 2012 Sertao. Releasing a lighter Husky version (Sertao is pigish at 420 lbs) with same powerplant probably won't happen.

Yeah forgot about that - essentially a re-launch of the Dakar in new clothes! Note the pics in the press release show it with 'road' tyres (Anakees by the look of it) ... says it all  Hang onto the genuine Husky's is the mantra.

Husky rep at NYC moto show was asking for opinions on the bike and price for concept Husky "Baja."
Bike on floor had 19-front, and I believe an 18 rear, maybe 17; similar to discontinued BMW G650 XCountry scrambler with single cylinder engine. Rep said it would have 3.5 gal tank and large enough alternator.

I suggested a $7k price range and plenty of optional bolt-on accessories to meet different uses, including 21-inch front and 17-inch w/ dual disk, rear rack, pannier racks, skid plate, rad guards. I told him that a program like the Beta "build-a-bike" would be nice, with bike coming from factory with things individual buyer wanted, including correct spring rate, upgraded suspension parts, lowered(if need be), etc.

I think he had writers cramp by the time I left.:)

(I'm glad I got the TE630.)

Certainly not a TE610 replacement. I can see the intrigue of a 600-700cc Adventure bike, just hope they don't forget about us dual-sport buys. My 1200GS is my adventure bike. The TE is when I want to be a bit more serious.
