• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Actual news on the KTM purchase of Husqvarna

There are reasons to be excited, but.... I guess the KTM snobbery starts at the top. He keeps mentioning the very outdated line up, 250-300, I agree. I regularly put my TC250 X-lite up against the latest KTM's with good success at a club level and Andrew Delong has been doing pretty good in the GNCC
I don't see anything out dated about my wr125 either.
How many enduro world championships did Husqvarna win? Juha!!! KTM had to hire Meo away so they could try and compete.

I agree, Meo is a gun!! Juha and Meo under the CH banner were unbeatable!!
IF they are to release a new 2t 250 or 300, and they mean what they say about competing and wanting HVA to be racing company again, then hire Nambotin to race the new WR300 in EWC 2014!!!

If nothing else this is super entertaining watching this unfold and peoples various reactions. Great posts.

Uh yes please.

and Caselli everywhere open and fast.

and Steward Baylor in the tight stuff.

the possibilities sure open up huh? Wow.

I kinda liked the part about KTM taking on the RED & Husky taking on the GREEN YELLOW & BLUE..... It's good to hear some positive news about moving forward instead of conjecture & wags (wild a$$ guesses)

I don't understand why the CST is going away and not going to be a standard. I just got done riding my TXC 449 back to back with the 250 txc. Both suspensions have been dialed. I can't believe how much smoother and tractable the CST is ! I was drooling at the thought of the CST on the x-lite and new two strokes.

Competition models sounds great, but are worthless to me really here in California. We need to have plated models for sure. An all new 250 motocross bike? The TC 250 has the x-lite motor?

What is in store for the TR owners with the MOSS tool? Am I understanding that the MOSS connects via the web to retreive maps? Will BMW leave that channel open indefinetly for it's once built Husky models? The 449/511 don't use the MOSS right?

I live in Calif And have a different take My 510 dual sport gets ridden about 2 times a year once at big Bear DS ride the other is when I mark course for the 100s National but on the other hand my 165 and 300 get rode almost every weeken either at a race or out in the desert
so to hear talk of new intrest in competition bikes is great to hear.Next we might see a Zip Ty Racing Husky team

That Cycle News post is the best yet. Read the paragraph off to the right beginning with "Under KTM ownership..."

Reading that it means new 250f, 450f, 125, 250, and 300 dirt bikes -- with different engines. Too much good stuff in here to talk about. Great news and what I think everyone was hoping for!!!

And keep reading and he goes on to say 'we gotta go for it' in the racing arena ... Maybe some huskies will show up in the EU sx season later this yr ...

i like the new bikes coming bit(especially the 250/300!). any chance theyll be here this year yas reckon-evn if it is late in the year(ala gasgas)? dont think i can wait another 18 months!

Saving my pennies. Think we are in for some good stuff when the new bikes arrive!

I could barely read this due to its size, but this guy is not wasting time on the bikes ... Does he mean the CTS will go forward on a new 449 machine?
Sorry mate, l had to reduce the size just in case l couldn't upload it....so l did a bit of cropping, have a look now:)

As for CTS...does BMW own any patent rights to this technology?

Hope so, but kinda doubt it. Mr. ”Husky's entire line is outdated” seems to think only KTM has done anything innovative. Even though CTS is lightyears beyond PDS,, I'm sure it is probably too beemer for him.

Yes! CTS is what sold me on my first 511 after riding back to back with a 310. Use this chassis as a differentiator please.

That's CN's words, not Pierer's. If you read the other story earlier in this thread, SP said KTM would not be involved... in his own words. Or at least that is how it was attributed.

There is much supposition and guesswork about the sale of HSQ and we must be careful not to view editorial opinon as the actual views and plans of SP.

SP kinda overlooked the championship winning XLite bikes, too...

But he did mention interesting HSQ 2 stroke work... The current 2 stroke line IS what's dated. So, he's seen what's in development. It sounds like those rumors about DI may be true...

If you have ever been quoted by a reporter you know how unreliable that information can be. It doesnt have to be deliberate deception, but is often just the reporter hearing it differently than you think you said it.

Or wrote it different from the notes taken

Just think about how good a two stroke would be with CST ? I would like someone to explain why they feel the CST is inferior to the other way

Really fast guys seem to not like it because you cant load the suspension with the throttle like they are used to.
