• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

This is a typical picture of what we go around the world trying to find on your behalf!

When we have the opportunity to buy up NOS (New old stock) parts, we do it. This is because we are committed to providing you with the best possible parts that are available. Where parts are no longer available, we re-manufacture for you - using all of our engineering experience and connections. Our passion is racing these bikes, this means constant research and development and upgrading of what we make. This of course comes at a price, as we are not a registered charity but a business! The idea behind hva-factory is that we would like to be able to say 'Yes' to all of you requests for the parts you require, but we have to temper this with the reality of not over-stretching ourselves! Pretty much every penny of what we make goes into things like re-making the CR rear brake plates (the next item to come)...

Hope you like what we do (or try to do)!

I like Andy's room, he has really cool toys :-)

We appreciate your efforts! Thanks!
Any luck making up some new rear wheel hubs for the 1980's bikes yet?
Our bearings fall out and the new brake pads aren't thick enough anymore.

Anything is possible given time!

So, what is everyones top ten list of parts that they cant get???? (I don't want to get bored next year!!!).

1st gear clutch hub springs (the for the 360/390/420 autos and clutch shoes. Also I will be glad to test them for you, I have many of the automatics and I ride them a lot.

I will perhaps come back and make the list 10 as requested

1) Re engineer the first gear clutch for the last variation to have a smooth steel drum and bronze shoes like the prior.

2) The crank stub and first gear clutch holder that tapers to it would most likely be needed If those things get some serious use.

3) Some sort of repair for egged out swingarm pivot holes. I am thinking of the 12mm ones perhaps a shouldered washer of sorts. ending up with a bit wider spot for the swingarm bolt and all new hole.

Some one needs to press out some of those alloy tanks. 81-83 years all 3 sizes.

Least the parts and we can weld them together. Or do some aluminum overlay panels that we can cut sides of tank out and weld in? Or just overlay?

Think lot guys would like a weld in fitting in bottom of tank for Karkoma.

Cr back brake plates.

There are a lot of older husqvarna dealers in the USA that would like to sell there old parts inventory I'm sure. Years ago I ran across them all the time.

-maybe slightly oversized case inserts for the swinger pivots?
-repro husky products stuff...any of that stuff is way cool...skidplates, guards etc. i really like the fender braces i got from andy
-the early 80s repro silencers look awesome, maybe add in some lc versions?

The mono shock '85 up and the twin shock '84 and down rear swing arm case inserts would be awesome. I have a '87 430 case I may use in my 82 frame. I need the inserts.

Great! Keep the suggestions coming...

We are already some way down the line with:

Tank replacement threaded inserts for fuel taps
New Alloy tanks
Brake plates CR and Wr
Frame s/a hole repair plates / top hats

I have been meaning to do the engine bushes too...

We will concentrate on these. Maybe someone else could do the Auto stuff, as it is outside my field of experience (I have only ever ridden an Auto once!)

Thanks Guys.

Andy.

you can also swap them between years bill, you can take the twin shock inserts and put them in the 87 case

Maybe make some kickstart shaft with fewer splines for the 75-80 models more like say the 82 430 models ...but of course you would need the kickstart to match.....most people just weld em on ! me included then grind off weld when replacing kickstart shaft seal.

About auto stuff.
I think most riders needs new clutch drum and new shoes.
Don't know if it is possible to machine brass or steel shoes.
Clutch drum seems more possible to make.
Bearings and freewheels are avaliable.

I can't swap them if I don't have them.
One of my plans is to shorten a 86ish swing arm and convert it to twin shocks. Add the front disc brakes and build a screaming 420 ac
