• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A day in the life of: www.hva-factory.com

You do have some really cool toys! Would love to see more for the earlier pre-72 bikes though. In particular headlights, tail lights, wiring for the old sportsman/enduros. :)

An entire 360 for less than a k im always strapped and always want one, if youve a project for less pm me... Need a vintage two smoke love twin shock look, best looking bikes ever imo
Just dont own one :( wahaaa

Auto first gear clutch drums for bolt on gears are simple. Any decent machinist can make one from mild steel bar stock. No need for anything fancy. I was told by Paul Rooney that a mild steel drum lasted a whole Queensland enduro season back in the day. No need to stamp them out like Husky originally did. I have had several made with 3 seasons of VMX racing on the first one so far.

The shoes are a different proposition however. Would need to be milled from solid or else from a casting. Much more intricate and would warrant a minimum volume special order. An easier option imight be to make undersized drums and re-arc the shoes to the smaller radius....if necessary.

I guess there are not eneough Autos left being ridden in the world to justify the cost of making new shoes, could they be machined down if neccessaary and a new wearing layer added?

My top 10 Andy:

1. Seat bases that don't break. (or do I just have to lose 10kg ?)
2. Rear break plates or the bushes that go in them to stop them moving and wearing themselves out on the shoes.
3. 40mm Mikuni carbs for the 500s
4. Handle bar rubbers that you don't have to throw away after one meeting.
5. Heavier spring rates for the ITC shocks. (see 1. above)
6. Complete set of NOS 82, 430 gears for under £200 (Yeh I know it's not gonna happen..:))
7. Replacement kickstarts or refurbished kickstart knuckles as both my 430 and 500 are shagged !
8. Boost bottles for the Mossbarger reed blocks.
9. A fix for keeping the 83 500 side panels from melting on the pipe.
10. Reproduce the white yellow and blue husky race shirts.

There that should keep you going....:)

And by the way we do appreciate the work you do in getting all the stuff for us in the UK....:applause:

Andy,

Make a trip to Mitas tire and have them break out the old 17/18/21 Trelleborg molds.
Who cares if they have to change the name to Mitas. I've heard thru grapevine that they still have the molds.
You can still get the tenmaster in a 140/18 but say Mitas. But would be nice to have the big guns back like the 4.50-500 x 17.
You got behind a Husky with a big Trelleborg on it and you bought a chest protector pretty darn quick!

Ever thought about going to japan and making some good Kokusun ignitions?
They have to have some components that could be adapted over with change in flywheels and base plates?

Reproduce the plastic cable oilers. We will worry about stapling them on.
Black and gray with the lanyard caps

A kickstart knuckle for the 80/81 model bikes that adapts the 83+ kickstart leg would be huge! Even a completely re-vamped kickstart for the 80/81 models on the fine splined kicker shafts.

OK - all duly noted!

We have done a few of the shirts - but have none in Medium or large for a couple of weeks...

On the Website.

Andy

This is a typical picture of what we go around the world trying to find on your behalf!

When we have the opportunity to buy up NOS (New old stock) parts, we do it. This is because we are committed to providing you with the best possible parts that are available. Where parts are no longer available, we re-manufacture for you - using all of our engineering experience and connections. Our passion is racing these bikes, this means constant research and development and upgrading of what we make. This of course comes at a price, as we are not a registered charity but a business! The idea behind hva-factory is that we would like to be able to say 'Yes' to all of you requests for the parts you require, but we have to temper this with the reality of not over-stretching ourselves! Pretty much every penny of what we make goes into things like re-making the CR rear brake plates (the next item to come)...

Hope you like what we do (or try to do)!

Locate Joe Morel of Morel's Husky in Ma. Long out of business but I hear he has it all stashed away.

I know the struggle guys! A couple weeks ago I sorted and listed 10 former showbikes in parts (bikes without frame No). All except the frame, which was destroyed for obvious reasons.

Joe Morel winters in Florida and his daughter Tina handles orders during the winter. My last contact number for them is : 508.699.8053 Good Luck

1 - Pipes for the 1984 CR250 ;)
2 - Rear brake pivot with increased size where plates sit. To take some of the excess 'tolerance' out of the rear brake setup!!!
3 - A limited range of correct length front fork springs
4- Gloss 83 and 84 sidepanels
5- Start stocking the Ohlins upgrade rear springs, both types.

Just made a batch of these. They hold the 1985 - 1989 MX Wear Strip in place - under the top and bottom chain rollers....IMG_0335.jpgIMG_0338.jpg
